Most likely SMB/CIFS. The router could be nmap-ed to see what ports open when that service starts.View attachment 4686
Just plugged one of my PC external drives in to see if anything changed in the USB section of the web UI.
It does change from zero bytes to show the total file size, but not sure how I would access the files externally
The drive is recognised just fine though.
I'll leave it for someone who actually knows what they're doing mikeliuk. Most likely SMB/CIFS. The router could be nmap-ed to see what ports open when that service starts.
Going by information from Sonos, you have to tell it to look for files at the router IP address -- for example \\192.168.1.254\musicView attachment 4686

@The Wee Bear just install Fing on an Android and run the port scanner against the Zyxel.I'll leave it for someone who actually knows what they're doing mikeliuk.![]()
OK tried that meritez thanks, can see plenty devices but not spotting the hard drive listed anywhere.@The Wee Bear just install Fing on an Android and run the port scanner against the Zyxel.
Installed this Fing thing to see what it's about, so don't scan the whole network, your drive will not appear there.OK tried that meritez thanks, can see plenty devices but not spotting the hard drive listed anywhere.
There are 21 devices listed, unplugging the drive and refreshing the list it remains at 21 so I'm guessing the usb port isn't active on the network?
OK cheers Lucian, will give that a go and see if it shows up anything different.Installed this Fing thing to see what it's about, so don't scan the whole network, your drive will not appear there.
You want to see if the "file sharing" service is available.
Go to "Tools - Find open ports" and scan the IP of the Zyxel router.
You should see a list like "domain, http", see if you can find also anything like "cifs, smb, windows share".
If not, then try to mess with the settings, perhaps you need to enable something there.
Ok, that's good, the service is running.View attachment 4691
That's what I get listed, the microsoft enrty lists 'connect with samba client' when opened points to an android SAMBA app in the play store.
A bit confusing.
Done that, it asks for the router username and password then come up with a usb share icon, clicking that it does indeed show all the files on the drive.Ok, that's good, the service is running.
Now open up Windows File Explorer and go to \\192.168.what.ever (replace with actual Zyxel IP, but keep the \\), it should show you the file shares.
