Using Logmein to see video on your desktop

rruwalton

ISP Rep
I have logmein on my pc and use my laptop to access it. However, although I can open up video clips etc on my desktop, I cannot see the video content on my laptop. I just see windows media player and a blank screen.

I have checked the logmein website but its not great help.

I would appreciate some help please so I can watch video on my laptop via this piece of software.

Thanks
Richard

l believe there is some sort of protection that stops you doing things like this, its the same when screen dumping.. cant you map the drive as a network drive? and watch it like that.

Thanks timeless for such a quick response, however, I want to be able to access my desktop from work and elsewhere. I have loads of video clips etc I would like to access.

its possible support isnt there for video, l know one or two remote access proggies dont allow that kinda thing as l tried in the past..

Thanks Bob and timeless.

The software is real useful when I'm out and about as it allows me to copy files etc but it would be great if the video aspect worked.

I'll try the wmp mod Bob

:)

even if it did work l doubt things would work in realtime based on the usage l gather you will be using it for.. in fact ld wonder if it worked properly at all.

Don't forget to have a hunt around for the latest video codec packs too, I find K-Lite to be pretty good.

Otherwise it could be like Bob says, an issue with WMP/V hardware acceleration as that sort of thing has happened to me before. One classic example was where video refused to show up because the player was using DirectX 3D acceleration instead of DirectX 2D, yet the D3D was not supposed to be displayed on the desktop and thus showed as black.

I'm having the same issue and I was wondering if you had any luck fixing this rruwalton.

Let me know.

Thanks.

actually l personally lost interest in the k-lite codec packs, granted l cant do the screen capture thing with media player classic that you can with my current codec pack, but l personally feel that CCCP is the best at the moment (Combined Community Codec Pack) admittedly its specifically made for anime fans and specially optimised as such, however after 2ish years plus of usage l havent found any issues with it in fact the things that usually caused me issues with every other codec pack l used now work perfectly...
