V21 at it again!

If you signed up anyone via V21 affiliates are you aware they are hassling the people you signed up claiming to be YOU?! With the fiasco i had with V21 i advised everyone i signed up to go elsewhere, since they they have been hassles by Indian's calling them up in the evenings and letters claiming to be from me PERSONALLY. We are not talking once either-persistant hassling to try and get their account active again,as they are family members etc it's not really a problem but it's not really on to be claiming to be ME!!

If they are claiming to be you personally then I think this is a police issue.

I would think this is a serious matter and they should be reported ASAP.

The letter claims to be from me-i have it in front of me. When i asked my brother in law what they said to him on the phone he said the Indian guy (in poor English) kept saying my name & account problem! He got the impression he didn't have all the details to hand but was claiming to be me!!

Well......It doens't sound like it could possibly have been a mistake by a new operator (Just in case they wanted to use that one).

So I would go to either the police or a legal authority (Solicitor or CAB?) to get some better help than I can give!

At the VERY least got in touch with the company and ask just why they are using your name in correspondence. But don't speak to just anyone get straight to the manager or better. And get explanations in writing.

Just a question....Could this be taken as Identity fraud?

Without knowning the entire background i'd say its hard to say but if someone is claiming to be you then its Fraud.

I suggest checking the affiliate scheme's terms and conditions. Since V21 are responsible for managing 'your' (former) customer's accounts, I would expect there to be a clause entitling v21 to use your name in communications with them, although if you've instructed them to terminate your affiliate status I would have thought they should have ceased doing that and used their own name.

If your ex-customers have instructed V21 (or an Indian you! acting on their behalf ) not to ring them again, if the calls are for marketing purposes then V21 are probably in breach of the privacy and electronic communications act

DRGL, were you a VISP or affiliate of V21 at one stage? - If so, these calls may be to your affiliated customers. I'd recommend you call V21 and ask them to confirm what this is about as there's likely a rational explaination.
