I've been with Virgin for 3 years with hardly any problems. I was shunted over to the new 0808 9909030 number recently and the service has been absolutely abysmal with constantly engaged tones.... erratic speeds (good to non existant)
I switched back to the 0808 9933070 DUN and all was ok again until today......... dialed in using 0808 9933070 and found myself in a walled garden which told me I MUST change my DUN to 0808 9909030..... there was no way of visiting other sites with the 9933070 number...... locked in to the virgin announcement page.
Ok so I changed my dial up number to the recommended (enforced) 0808 9909030 number and it's taken me 47 attempts to connect which led me to post here...... is the 9909030 number the standard DUN or have I been deemed a heavy user and connected to a DUN with an obscenely high contention ratio (similar to what BT did with their "heavy" users)
Virgin seem to have really gone to the dogs of late and this is just the icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned...... I called their "support" number and they told me the reason I couldn't connect was due to an exceedingly high volume of users in my area all trying to access Virgin at the same time......... erm "bollocks" this "issue" has only really become a problem since I was forced onto the 9909030 number....... I've had no problems for 3 years......... funny how It all of a sudden takes almost 50 attempts to connect when I use the new number......... hmmmmmm
Anyone else having problems dialling in to Virgin using this new number?
All the best.
Mike.
