Virgin Fibre

Realation of my is a customer of Virgin using their Fibre feed into the property for TV/Phone/Internet
He is now looking at another ISP to provide a more competetive price for Broadband etc
Can another ISP use the existing Virgin fibre feed ?
or does Virgin have sole ownership of this cable ?

At present Virgin Media is a closed network and so there are no other options, although my sources tell me to expect a wholesale proposition in the near future and that may well come with support from several other ISPs. As yet we are still awaiting to see precisely what Virgin will do.

I read this somewhere, probably here? This would be great news for me, I have fibre running down my street from Virgin which I suspect will stop OR from running FTTP/FTTH?

Anyway, lucky I can get g.Fast really.

Openreach's arch rival is Virgin Media in urban areas (as well as Cityfibre and Hyperoptic in certain parts), so it's actually in their interests to overbuild those with their own FTTP and prevent customer bleed. We are seeing this a lot already. Competitive overbuild is fairly normal in urban areas and this is as true in the UK as it has been in other countries, where 2-3 such full fibre networks often exist side-by-side.

Great news regarding overbuild.
