Virgin hub 3 not broadcasting it's id

I have a new hub 3 and am having problems.

After it has been on for a couple of hours it seems to stop broadcasting it's id.

Hence if I switch on one of our laptops it does not find the wifi.

This can be resolved by switching the hub 3 on and off.

This never happened with hub 2.

We have not changed the software on our laptops since moving to hub 3 so it is clearly a hub 3 issue.

I phoned tech support who claimed to have fixed it by doing something over the net. But it still happens.

It happens on hp laptop, mac mini, dell laptop. Never had a problem with any of them before switching to the new hub 3.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem? Am considering leaving virgin because I am so fed up with this problem.

I cant help fix the hub, but most wifi devices have a setting to allow you to reconnect to a network, even if it isnt broadcasting.

The router issue might be a security feature, because continually broadcasting its presence invites attack; the chances of an attack are low, but not as low as the chances of making* a liquid explosive on a plane, and look how the government treat THAT threat.
(* Minimum 4 hours and at least 20 gallons of cold water, yet you cant take a bottle on the 45 minute jump from Birmingham to Amsterdam - yeah I looked it up).

But it all worked perfectly with hub 2. Never ever had this problem. But as soon as I had hub 3 installed the problem appeared.

Are most of the wireless items Ipads, Imac or Iphones?

Could be hub 3 doesn't release the IPs so making it run out of IPs stopping them, try seeing if the limit of IPs available can be highered.

+1 for this.

I have also had issues with iCrap buggering up wifi after the last IOS update.

Whether the WiFi SSID is being broadcast or not, if you've already paired a device then it should still be able to connect unless there's something else wrong. Even a network with hidden SSID still exists and hiding it also won't stop hackers.

I'd suggest posting on the official Virgin Media Community Forum via their website as this sounds like a problem for their firmware developers, it's not normal behaviour.
