Here is a rough timeline so far of the process of me getting full fibre broadband for the first time in Sheringham.
November 2023 to April 2024.
Makehappen were working on behalf of Upp Broadband using existing Openreach ducting and poles wherever possible to run fibre to a lot of the properties in Sheringham. The Upp Network was purchased in September 2023 by Virgin Media as part of expanding their Nexfibre offerings. My road was connected in Mid March 2024.
April 2024 to Late June 2024.
Nothing much happened with the network as I presume there was testing and integration works being carried out to align Upp systems with Nexfibre.
27th June 2024
Sherignham and Cromer went live with Virgin Media offerring upto 2gbps symmetrical. The same day as go live a sales rep appeared at my property and we had been considering the M350 package to replace my current EE FTTC connection. We ended up on the door signing up for M350 with upload speed add on. The install booked for the 10th July. I have since been onto my Virgin Media account and have seen two appointments have been booked, they have placed us in a slot on the 8th July (tomorrow) presumably for the installation of fibre drop wire from pole to house and then the internal works on the 10th July as planned.
I know someone else has had their pre installation done in Sheringham last Friday and engineers from both Upp and VM02 were present (probably still getting familiar with the kit).
I have my concerns about Virgin Media regarding cancelling a contract later down the line and negotiating a renewal deal but have had a lot of luck with other companies doing this in the past so I must have reasonable skill at it.
I will provide further updates as the work progresses.
