Virgin.net, new connection number...

Anyone get the friendly email from Virgin announcing new connection no.?
Just like this one;

Important: Please change your Virgin.net dial up number now

Hello,

To ensure that we continue to provide you with a competitive and reliable Virgin.net 24seven service in 2005, we need to change your dial up number i.e. the number you're currently using to access the Internet.

To make sure that you can continue to access the Internet with Virgin.net, please update your dial up number now.

To do so, simply click on the link below - it will only take a couple of moments. However, please make sure you do this from the PC on which you use your Virgin.net 24seven service.

Alternatively, if you'd like to switch to a faster service, you may be interested in Virgin.net Broadband. We offer two different options, one at £17.99 and the other at £24.99 a month.
Neither have a 12 month contract
Both are up to 10 times faster than your current 24seven service
And if you sign up before 19th January 2005, you can save nearly £70, as you'll get free activation and a free Starter Kit (includes special broadband modem).

Remember, if you want to continue using your Virgin.net 24seven service, you must update your dial up number.

We hope you'll find this straightforward, but if you encounter any problems, please contact our support team who will happy to assist.

Many thanks,

Virgin.net

This smells like the heavy users no. fiasco many of us were dished out from another infamous ISP.

You could well be right ...

I have just been asked to change to 0808-9909030. I've been asked to change to this before and although it connected OK, the service once connected was abysmal (very slow, lots of breaks in transmission). Last time I got away with switching back to my old number but I guess I won't get away with that if they are withdrawing 0808-9933070 (which I currently use with no problems).
Have you been asked to change to 0808-9909030 ?
Has anyone been given a different number to dial ?
Mik

That's good news

That's good news : I'll have to try it again. So far the old number still works fine and Virgin say they don't have a definite cut-off date !
I must have missed the announcement about new ownership : who has got it now ?

NTL ......... :D
