Vispa disaster

"Well, they've gone now... really gone.. no phone service no web service... Vispa is NO MORE... FINISHED... KAPUT..."

This was the call I go this morning as our community broadband system fell of the air and this remote community, cut off by ice and snow, lost its final tenuous link with the outside world.

Vispa seems to us to have collapsed. The solitary support guy, Atlas figure 'Derek' seems no longer able to carry the world of Vispa on his fast sloping shoulders and is un contactable. The website doesn't load.

We are like rats from a sinking ship, scurrying and swimming fast for the island of Zen. However the water's cold and we would rather not have had to make such a long swim for shore.

RIP Vispa.

You won't be missed.

PS. ISPREVIEW ought to excise the company from the top ten list before it becomes embarrassing.

Can you confirm this news please?

I'm with vispa & obviously can't reach them at the moment.

Trouble is, I was thinking of switching anyway, but the new provider needed my MAC number. How the hell do you get a MAC number from a provider which is no more...! :-/

Vispa Disaster

I have no idea whether they really have died. The call I got was from one of our members who could not get hold of them or load their website.

They have of course died in the eyes of all right thinking ISP users who are fed up of their failure to provide consistent service as promised and a good customer service...

Hi Adrian, the top 10 is not governed by us so much as our readers and the reviews you make. They seem to be getting a lot more problems in the last month since before and after taking on TitanADSL's userbase, I expect we might see some more negative reviews pushing them down if it keeps up.

Otherwise their website seems to be back and there is a status update about a radius server problem.

Thanks Mark

I think you're right!

However, since they've struggled back from the edge once again this afternoon I have no doubt a few wildly enthusiastic reviews about how they're on tip top form now they've upgraded will appear on your site shortly...

I'll be looking for anagrams of ormerod myself.

Keep up the good work..

Hi,

We're back!

A statement is being prepared as we speak having only just returned from the datacentre.

The issue was down to a DDos attack and our transit providers have to be contacted in order to blackhole the attacker.

Adrian Hi,

I have tried to call you on your mobile without success. I have left my details with your colleague.

Please give me a call

Kind Regards,
Adam

Mr Adam

Thank you for your considerable effort in trying to get hold of me. I had never heard of an Adam at Vispa before so this was exciting.

I was very surprised that I was to receive my first ever call from Vispa despite having passed many happy times calling Vispa, sometimes unsuccessfully and emailing frequently to chase answers.

I had begun to think I was trying too hard, you know.. should I treat them mean keep them keen....? Calling, begging, messaging... you can put a girl off like this I know. So I gave up eventually.

So blow me down I get this flirty message....

But my heart turned to stone when I learned from my colleague that the only reason Vispa was making this first ever attempt to reach out to me was to threaten to sue me for comments made on this page.

So let's re cap:

I had a call this morning from an upset member of our association saying that Vispa was dead.. kaput.. no more...

I then tried to call Vispa myself (I know, desperate) and failed and remarked that Vispa "seems to us to have collapsed"

I went on to point out that even the solitary figure of Derek who is the only person we ever squeeze a squeek out of "seems no longer able to carry the world of Vispa on his fast sloping shoulders and is un contactable"

And I remarked then that "The website doesn't load."

I finished by imploring Vispa to RIP "May they rest in peace" I said.

I can only imagine their complete absence of service earlier today and the laughable consequent silencing of their internet based phone system did indeed bring them considerable peace... after all, the other desperados who've not yet (like me) learned the hard way, won't have been able to ring Vispa's phone off the hook during the outage.

Good luck Vispa and welcome back to you all.

Hi,

I don't wish to ramble on however the reason why we were un-contactable was because all our staff are working from home (due to the weather) and our VOIP system was routing the calls over their home Vispa ADSL lines.

We have now implemented a fail-safe for re-routing the calls to a pre-recorded message in an emergency but unfortunately, the way it was setup today, we simply couldn't make the changes :-(

It also took myself and two engineers over an hour to reach the data centre in Manchester City Centre due to the very bad driving conditions.

The initial problem for Vispa was figuring out a way to keep our support lines open with no staff in the office but it's very unfortunate that it happened on a day that our network get's a denial of service attack.

I guess we learn from our mistakes.
