Vispa & Newsgroups

i recently signed up with Vispa and now have my account up and running....what i was wondering is dose anyone know if they filter their newsgroup access, as i have signed up to quite a lot of newsgroups but never get any posts bigger than 20 k in size.

i did look at was a e-book site ....all the text files were there to say the book had been posed.... but none of the actually files to download, i have noticed this on a lot of diffrent newsgroups...i have checked my filters etc in NewsBin...and everything is set okay

any help appreciated

many thanks

Andy

Andy,

We don't carry binaries on our usenet servers, just text content. These come to us direct from our upstream suppliers (we have 7 sources for usenet) and then store locally, therefore the filtering will be happening further upstream.

If you email support@vispa.net with your username/details then we can open a working case internally and see if we can improve this for you.

Hmmmmm dident expect a reply from a Vispa Rep....i posted on here becuase i though it would be anonymous...and could not get any response/acceptable answer from Vispa via e-mail.

i mean you answered here quicker than you did via e-mail...LOL....at least now i know where the problem lies

and Moderators.....do you feel this appropriate for ISP reps to answer questions here......i though this would be anonymous...somewhere where i could express my feelings about problems ect rather that speak to my ISP direct...sometime it dose feel awkward doing that you know

Andy we have no outstanding support tickets, and I have checked all emails we have had for the past 14 days and no emails have referred to Usenet or News servers.

I really have no idea why you are playing the "anonymous" card when you yourself have given your firstname. At this point in time we are not aware of who you are, what exactly is your problem, or any error messages you are getting etc. Many ISPs including ourselves have Reps here to help users, I would have thought this would be more useful than a problem. Personally IMHO I think you over reacting somewhat.

How this can be a problem, when your original question was regarding filtering and if we did it is confusing me somewhat. Surely the "ISP Reps" would best place to answer this, than general end users from other other ISPs. Andy you can't have it both ways.

Anyway if you believe you have sent us an email you would have received an automatic ticket reference number. If you can supply this/these then we will certainly look into your case, until such time I can only believe we have not recieved your email or non have actually been sent.

PS: What's so awkward anyway???

We find that members tend to get their problems sorted by having ISP reps. You are still anonymous to the rep unless you register using your details for the ISP.

With your particular problem I think the answer had to come from the ISP rep as he would be the only person with the knowledge to answer.

These forums are independant and many post what they have experienced with the ISP aslong as it is not libleous, abusive or slanderous.

New user, New EU???????

Just ask for basic details so you can look into it,

No need to sound nasty about things even if it wasnt ment that way.

First things first if there is a problem get it sorted then see what happens,

you never know you might get a dedicated EU for life.

As explained we have not seen to reply to you. Email is handled in an equally quick manner.

i just wanted to apologise to the Vispa Rep.....after reading the posts from the forum moderators i realise it's the norm for them to post here (just had some bad experiences with other isp's in the past before Broadband was available here)

i must admit the reason i did choose Vispa was the reader reviews they got on this site...and fingers crossed i havet had any problems with them as yet....they were very quick to answer the phones ect during the set-up process...so hope they keep up the good work and ill stick with them.

may choose to use a seprate Newsgroup feed though as they are very reasonably priced for the ammount i want to download...just books etc.
