I have recently noticed my local O2 host VF share site (600371) has had a load of new antennas with n78 5G now available for O2 customers. Will have to get some photos of the kit at some point. VF 4G speeds noticeably improved as well with the new kit installed. Cellmapper for VF still shows the older configuration but will get that mapped at some point once I have organised a plan with Lebara to be able to access VF on the Xiaomi.

Switched from 3 to VOXI and you can much see the difference! Vodafone being 8 times faster is a shocker, both are inside my home. IMG_2809.webpIMG_2807.webp

That's quite good, is it a Vodafone or O2 host area though?

The other thing that I'm interested in finding out is on PAYG, are users on Voxi, Vodafone PAYG, Lebara etc all treated the same speed/coverage wise? I'm aware on Lebara there's a speed limit on some plans of 200Mbps?

Not sure, I like in the south wales so it probably is a Vodafone host. O2 is good here but not as fast as Voda or EE.

If it's South Wales than it's highly likely to be a Vodafone host area, I live in a O2 host area so no doubt will have a different experience to you.

Still decent speeds though!

Sadly even though there are some shared masts owned by Cornerstone here, Vodafone don't seem to have the same 5G coverage as O2.

@Bubbles121

How long did you have to wait for your Vodafone sim from mobiles.co.uk to be approved?

Ordered mine about an hour ago and still pending.

Ignore, they finally responded with a rejection 😑

For what it's worth @CarlO1460 Vodafone's credit checking system is so damn broken... I managed to get a SIM only with them originally no problem. Around 6 months later I tried to get an additional SIM only deal with them for my wife and they just straight up declined.

I've never missed a payment (ever...), no marks on my credit report, my score is 970+ on Experian and I had an active contract with them which never had any payment issue. I'm employed full time, have a mortgage and just couldn't work it out?

Fast forward a further 6 months, I go to upgrade from a SIM only to a phone contract and they didn't bat an eye at a S24U 512GB and a more expensive monthly contract... Bizarre. Their forums are very much reporting similar too.

They’re bonkers with their checks, I’ve always been approved for up to 5-lines. I had 3, cancelled one (moved my brother to EE) that affected my account and it dropped me down to being allowed one line although I had 2!

Called up and they re-ran my credit check and it pushed me back up to 5. Don’t know why committing to spend less with them reduced the amount was allowed.

I never really understood why mobile companies run credit checks in the first place.

it's not like they're exposing themselves to risk taking you on as a customer. As the worst comes to worst they cut your line off if you don't pay?

Primarily talking about sim only deals I understand why for a mobile phone.

Worst comes to worst,
You make international calls to Bosnia & Herzegovina for 4 hours every day in a month, and then go use a couple gigs of data in Andorra.

And then don't pay.

You can run up a bill that’s a few quid over your usual line rental charge if you aren’t careful.

Like this guy, for example

Man runs up £192,000 phone bill in just four days during family holiday in Turkey

John Nisill, from Skelmersdale in Lancs, said he almost fainted when BT told him he'd used 43GB of data - costing an eye-watering £192,000 - while on his family break to Marmaris in Turkey in October

If you have a handset, you're basically paying it off over 24 months.

They want to make sure you can and will pay for it before sending you a £1,000 handset.

Any issues with TalkMobile in terms of pac my main number in?

I’m leaving O2 given the £1.80 a year price increase on a £14 plan 😑

I have liked O2 but it’s going to become rather expensive for what I actually use of it. No more than 11gb a month.

I am not aware of any issues, I am about to port from giffgaff to Lebara for my cell mapping device (giffgaff sim has a nice number on it). Parents are looking into moving from giffgaff to Talkmobile so we all are using the Vodafone network (and it is cheaper). My sister is currently on giffgaff but plan to get her a VOXI sim with her being a student like myself so can get a good data deal with them.

I'm currently looking at the £4.95 for 5GB or £5.95 for 20GB to replace my O2 sim currently paying £5.44 but the £1.80 price increase is crazy

Three are just the same, went to go with a Three contract and had their in-store systems and their systems at head office say two different outcomes.

One said yes, one said no although you be reassured to know it went though okay although I did leave 3 months early on the contract as I needed EE coverage which Three couldn't do.

I’ve ported in to them twice without any problems.

Currently on their £6.95 for 30GB plan.
Is your main number with them?

Anything I should be aware of, I know Vodafone likes to cling to 3G at times.

100gb for £9.95 is a good deal.

As is the 50GB for £3.98 then to 7.95 after 3 months.

Assuming WiFi calling and 4G calling work fine.

Edit: just figured, I’ll need esim because my Three scancom is physical 😔
