Vodafone SA 5G

Or it's a poorly configured MVNO incorrectly connecting to 5G SA and being kicked off?

Or it's the trial areas showing up:

I would be surprised, I know in my area I've seen VF, O2, EE and in some limited areas the secondary Three n78 carrier showing in the cell table when locking to SA only but as of now I've never had any be able to connect.

There are a couple of oddities on Cellmapper, for example, LTE Band 46 shows up on EE in Ilford next to the Buckingham Road Cemetery but does not show up in the rest of the UK.

and according to Halberd Bastion, EE do not even have LTE b46:

Here's some more info on those

It was in Scotland at the Stena Line port near Stranraer, I doubt it.

I don’t think SA is deployed yet in the uk. The only commercial SA 5G (that I’m aware of) is upon the T Mobile network within the USA on their 2500mhz (band 41).

UK MNOs are looking to invest in the infrastructure before touching SA. 5G SA will probably not be around for at least another year in the uk.

Im looking forward to SA. Its going to open up so many new applications on mobile networks.

Did a test in Wolverhampton next to the cell that reports SA on cell mapper and no SA connection. Shows up under the cell table and I can see the cell's NR MIB but no throughput.

Which Network operator did you try with, Vodafone, Voxi or Lebara?

Has anyone got SA connections recently on any of the MNOs?

  • 5G Ultra to be available on Samsung Galaxy S21 and S22 devices, with more to follow in July as more devices become 5G Ultra-compatible.
So if anyone knows where to find cheap S21 then it may be worth testing?

I have an S21 phone and personally am on EE, but have a work Vodafone sim as the 2nd sim (dual sim) but when I was in Glasgow for work, no SA 5G, only NSA. You'd have to sign up to a new contract post March this year to get 5G SA it would seem. Very interested to see if in reality it provides lower latency.

Anyone have a list of cells in London, Manchester, Glasgow / Cardiff with SA enabled?

Not sure that Vodafone SA is actually available to customers yet and was not just a publicity stunt.

I have all the required components apart from the mythical text to say it’s enabled on the account and there are many others in the same situation with many posts online and in the VF community about this.

Calls to Customer Service and PR & executive teams has not yet resulted in a customer getting this enabled, Even some tech journalists have tried with promise of both written and video articles but no Vodafone SA for them.

It’s approaching a couple of months since launch so we should have been seeing more handsets added with S23 (IPhones will be IOS17 and new phone launch ) but not even the advertised handsets have access yet

When did you sign up to Vodafone? Existing customers (other than a "small number") didn't get it at launch.

Customers with a compatible handset who signed up to a Pay Monthly contract after 24 February will have 5G Ultra added to their plan automatically at no extra cost, as will all new and upgrading customers from now on.

A small number of people are already receiving 5G Ultra. Eligible customers will be added in a phased approach over summer 2023.

If you look on cellmapper and select 5G NR for Vodafone UK you will clearly see 5G SA masts that have been mapped by users in the areas vodafone advertise. So yes 5G SA is real and is available to some users.
