Want a trio handset(s) with answer machine. I have Gradstream (HT801) adapter that is currently working with a cheap single phone.

Suggestions for a triple set please (up to £75)

Thanks

Are you after a DECT base with three handsets? Then you could get something like British Telecom Phone Trio or a Gigaset AS405A Trio. The base can then be plugged into the Grandstream.

If you want to splash out a bit more, dump the Grandstream and your existing broadband router and get a Fritzbox with a few DECT handsets.

Not a solution. Very limited, but necessary, incoming calls use for the VoIP line. Besides, I do not want to be stuck with the same Broadband / VoIP provider.

Using Netgear 3 satellite Mesh router system which I need for my house layout, so cannot ditch it. Will look at above. I have heard that BT phones can be a bit difficult with Granstream.

not sure why you would be stuck with the same Broadband/VoIP provider, the two are completely independent. On the current FritzOS, you can configure up to 20 different VoIP accounts.

Accept that but I need to use the Orbi mesh coverage in the house (Orbi connected to the ONT). I do not want a "modem" between the ONT and the Orbi.

You don't need to use the modem function of the Fritzbox (no point if you are on FTTP). You can use the Fritzbox purely as a VoIP client behind the Orbi, i.e.

FTTP -- ONT -- Orbi -- Fritzbox

So you could pick up a second hand Fritzbox models that has VoIP and DECT and plug it into your main router instead of the Grandstream. You can find the different models listed here

The more recent models support mesh operation

so you could look at using Fritzbox as a mesh repeater in your Orbi mesh. There are plenty of FB 7530 on eBay (I believe Zen provided them free to their customers), selling for as little as £20.

The main benefit over a Grandstream ATA is that you can set up several VoIP accounts, picking the cheapest option for outbound calls. Also, with several DECT phones you can make up to three calls in parallel (or while on a call, receive another incoming one).

I appreciate your points above. Why do I need to buy / attach FB behind my Orbi router. It plugs into ONT and has a Gigastream HT801 attached to it. This is supporting a single phone now.

My question was regarding trio telephone sets to use with it.

BTW my VoIP provider and ISP are different. My ISP router supports VoIP BUT the ISP does not - hence my reason for not using it.

Might need to up your budget slightly. Gigaset DECT systems are popular and stable. Yealink also get decent reviews.

Have a look on Ligo for desired/requisite handset features etc.

Where you/how you terminate your VoIP should be separate from your ISP broadband solution and handset choices, for ultimate future proofing and system "portability"

Ligo does have a good choice.
