having been googling, logging requests with manufacturers and Service providers I seem to have drawn a blank....
Other than this siite that seems to have a lot of people who know a lot....
Sorry if this is the wrong section or been answered.. I did do several searches....
I have used Mifi for over 12 years no fixed broadband....
as 5G is in our area and quite good I decided to take the plunge and upgrade to a better setup....
One requirement was to be able to utilise teh unlimited minutes on my smarty Sim, and noting that Three had implemented support for VoLTE on their Network the hunt was on...
The Huawei CPE Pro H112-370 seemed a nioce bit of kit and with aftermarket mods could support some nice external Antennae.. a fairly new Router was purchased and as it was aThree version didn't seem a problem as Smarty runs on the Three Network....
Reading other sites I was expecting to see a Menu option somewhere for VoLTE but nothing.... Then i read that the Sim has to support VoLTE and finally that Routers may be modified by 3rd party companies who purchase them....
Talking to Smarty support was a total waste of time "Smarty does not support RJ11"
and Huawei could offer nothing more than talk to Three as once the device has shipped they do not kow what others may do...
So can I? is it possible? Is there an Alternative? and other such questions.....
Simply is the Huawei CPE Pro H112-370 Fimware or such modified by Three to prevent the use of VoLTE? if so can it be upgraded/returned to OEM?
Is teh problem with my Smarty Sim? do I need to get a new one?
(I have read that when a sim was swapped from EE to Three the VoLTE settings appeared...)
Can VoLTE be used with the router with a phone through the RJ11 socket (if so how?)
If the Router has VoLTE disabled how woudl anyone know without pourchasing one?
Is my only solution to buy an older Huawei 4G B525 router and loose my 5g for data?
I do see this as a very nice solution going forwards for many people...
If in a good 5G area why have a fixed broadband when 5G is great for most if a good signal.. then you have what techically is a fixed line.. and you can hook that up to a answer service on a PC and have a very nice business style answer service
