Voxi Endless plan apparently has 5G but infact 5G is locked out!

Since the 17th i purchased a new sim to get 5g access since i purchased a new phone, however anywhere i go i am unable to get a 5G signal, this was strange since apparently the area was covered heavily. so i did some research and swapped the sim for my other voxi sim, still didnt work then i switched it to my voda business sim, surprise it works! 330Mb down, swap them back and same issue

Cellmapper reports 5G is restricted on the Voxi Sims (Both so its not sim or account related) and Unrestricted for the Voda business sim.

See my screenshots for further evidence,

My reason for posting is to get this matter out into the public domain and so see if anyone else faced this issue?

Whilst Vodafone market Voxi as "a part of the vodafone family.", it's not set up at all like so. I believe they absorbed another company and decided to farm off its access as part of vodafone but in reality its not set up that way.

Also to be wary of, Voxi has only a handful of real people behind the scenes. Everything else customer service is AI driven. So you'll never get to speak to a real person.

It wouldn't surprise me if the MVNO arrangement that Vodafone has established on their VOXI sub-brand means the parent gets a period of exclusivity or priority once a cell goes live for 5G, with VOXI benefitting a little further down the road. Certainly it does seem normal for MVNOs to play second fiddle when it comes to network upgrades and performance.

Are you sure you’ve got the 5G Endless Data plan from Voxi for £35/month?

Only this plan with Voxi supports 5G and once it’s enabled you’ll have 5G access within a few minutes. Any other plan would be 4G only and would match what you’re experiencing.

This is not at all true - it's a sub-brand and it is entirely part of Vodafone. The staff even work in the same offices.

@Daniel1D - have you attempted to contact customer service at any point? There's a high likelihood that it's just an account misconfiguration. Remember you only get 5G on VOXI on the £35pm plan.

I was looking at the same plan, one thing I could not find out though was if the Voxi plans are capped to a certain speed on 4g or 5g like Vodafone do?

They don't impose any limits though I would expect that in congested areas Vodafone traffic will be given the priority over Voxi but their network is fairly capable so I wouldn't worry about that, myself.

Not at all. in most cases am able to get well over 100mbps over 4G/LTE-A

They have no customer service they have brainless people on live chat who know nothing technical (When i suggested change LTE bands they hadnt a clue what i was talking about) they also said it was already enabled (Which it clearly is not) and am aware of that limit on the £35 Pla being supposedly 5G only and not other plans.

Voxi has the same access (Atleast for 4G) to the vodafone network as any voda customer, i am able to get over 100Mbps most of the time

That's some nice speeds! When I was last on vodafone about 2 or 3 years ago in Northampton I was getting 50mbps at home but when in the centre it dropped to less than 2mbps (no carrier aggregation, B20 only from memory etc)

Not sure if things have improved recently though

It's more latency and less jitter i look for, but i suspect the reason why it's so fast is both the towers it connects to are Massive beasts, both with LTE-A and 5G.

I have included Pictures of the site and the 5G when it works!

What phone do you have?

I know it happens with 4G (especially with EE) but I don't have any knowledge of 5G - however I know MVNO's are sometimes limited to specific network bands when using the MVNO instead of the main provider so could it be that your phone doesn't support the 5G band that Voxi is allowed?

A90 5G.

Worth Noting for me it's latency not speed always,, ive had over 200Mbps over 4g before.

As a user, I want to confirm this. Voxi isn't an MVNO. It is just a sub-brand.

You can't even use a PAC to switch between Vodafone and Voxi, because Voxi PACs also begin VUK.

Daniel, the "brainless people on live chat " are all computers. I managed to get talked into a swapping my wifes vodafone to voxi sim only account by a vodafone store when her contract ran out. "Just hop on live chat and they'll sort you out he said." 30 minutes later jumping through hoops it finally dawned on me when he kept going on about how it was raining there and asking me about the weather. Then it attempted to sell me a new contract.
