VOXI eSIM loophole

I needed a second sim for a trip, and since Samsung decided to only include eSIM as the second sim option in my Flip4 I set out on an adventure trying to find an option.

After reading a few threads elsewhere, I decided to give the Vodafone eSIM loophole a try. It seems to be hit or miss, with some saying it's worked, and others saying the loophole has been closed.

I wouldn't recommend anyone try it, especially with their main sim, unless they don't mind burning the £10 for a VOXI plan if things to tits up!

I ordered a free Vodafone sim, when it arrived this morning I put it in the phone to activate it and set it up.

After a few hours I was finally able to do the eSIM swap. At first it wasn't letting me do it, it said that I had already done a sim swap, but I'm guessing that was just because I'd only just activated the sim. It's a faff to get to the sim swap page, but this is the direct link.

I then went to VOXI, and just signed up, I said I already had a Vodafone number, entered the number and got the OTP through. Then paid for the plan.

I lost signal for a bit, but then it came back.

I've also read online that some people have had their eSIM deactivate after a while, so I'm wondering if that will happen to me.

I'll keep everyone updated on how things go!

Keep your physical SIM handy as you may need it to continue using voxi.

I have, it's in my old phone for safe keeping!
I'm fully expecting the eSIM to randomly stop working at some point, and hopefully it just transfers back over to the physical sim. Although I've seen some reports of people saying it didn't and they lost the sim altogether!

All still seems to be working with VOXI, although I can't actually access my account!

I just get "Hmmm, that didn’t work as expected. Please bear with us as we squash the last few bugs"

I daren't get in touch with them in case they screw something up, so I guess I'll just have to put up with it for now!

Tried in a different browser to check it's not a cookies/cache issue?

I know someone else who has had a voxi esim for six months no issues.

Was this a PAYG Vodafone sim you ordered? I thought esim was only for pay monthly.

Yes, just a regular PAYG SIM that I ordered from the website.
They say it's for pay monthly only, but the option is still there for PAYG in the account

Esim is done and I am on VOXI, I just can't log into my account with them at the moment, it keeps saying there has been a problem and they need to fix a few bugs.

Exactly the same issue with me actually. I haven't bothered to get back in touch with customer services about it, but I wonder if it's esim related

Might cancel the whole thing if I can’t access my account, wanted it as my physical sim slot is currently used by a network that doesn’t support esim. Luckily I chose to pay by Paypal so I can cancel the payments that end.

Customer services would probably recognise it's esim and take it back to physical SIM so keep hold of it just in case they do clock on.
The first time I got in touch they just went though the usual password resetting stuff, which didn't work.

When my mother joined VOXI a year or two back, she had exactly the same issue but obviously with a proper SIM.

Given I was probably going to cancel this month anyway (I overspent on the Black Friday sales so should probably cut back on unnecessary spending lol) I'll get in touch again and see if they can fix it

Hmm, got in touch with VOXI and they say I'm still with Vodafone PAYG despite my Vodafone account being closed, and VOXI taking payment.

I also paid with Paypal, so out of curiosity I've cancelled the automatic payment since it's due in a few days.

They said to get in touch with Vodafone about it, so once my payment fails I'll get in touch with them and see what the crack is.

I am now able to get into my Voxi account online, not sure if it is connected but I requested a STAC last night, which I got, but now won’t use. Wi-Fi calling is working now as well.
