Waiting months for final Openreach fibre connection

I hope this is the right place to post this.......

I ordered a FTTP connection (FOD) through Cerberus at the begining of the year. We live about 500m from the node, and I elected to dig my own trench (300m) across our land to save significant cost to the install. Had to wait months and keep chasing for the fibre cable to be delivered so I could lay it. Eventually turned up in July, and I had it in the ground in 2 days.

My gripe is that we have now been waiting since the end of July for the final Openreach engineer visit to install the ONT in the house. I get regular updates from Cerberus, but all essentially saying "hopefully soon", with no solid explanation of the delay.

Has anyone experienced anything similiar? Is there anything I could do to get the final (easy) stage done? I'm tempted to stop next time I see an Openreach engineer out and about and offer cash just to get the job done!

Sorry for the rant and waffle!

Could be worth asking if they are receiving compensation payments from BT Wholesale/OpenReach they could pass on. Might not be a qualifying product but sometimes businesses might not tell you unless you ask.

Expectation set: Mine took around 11 months, when ordered back in 2018. @candlerb order was longer still. Other folks posting here have waited longer yet.

Speak to Bob Hendy at Cerberus and see if he can provide some intel and/or leverage.

But I expect given the manpower constraints within OR at the moment it could take a little while yet.

17.5 months from paying for survey to getting live service.

From the final piece of network build (CBT installed and spliced at the splitter) to the installation engineer arriving was about 6 weeks. I believe during that time there's a check by auditors, and activation work at the exchange.

After that, you're at the mercy of availability of installation engineers, who are heavily in demand right now for regular FTTP installations.

Definitely 100% no compo to be had for FTTPoD. You pays your money all up front…then pray. 😎

Thanks for the replies all, at least I know it's not just me then! Just so frustrating that there is only a tiny bit of work needed but they just don't seem to have any engineers.
