Wanadoo To End Newsgroups ?

I’m unable to confirm if the following newsgroup message is true, however it does appears to be legitimate:

Dear Wanadoo Newsgroups reader and user,

From 17th March, the way you read your Newsgroups will be changing. We'll no
longer be able to provide a Usenet/Newsgroups feed.

Although we cannot ourselves recommend an alternative Usenet/Newsgroups
service, the following is a brief list of operators recommended by newsgroup
viewers and contributors:

http://www.giganews.com

http://www.easynews.com

http://groups.google.co.uk/groups/dir?lnk=od&hl=en&sel=33554433

(Google's Usenet archive and interface)

Thanks for your contributions to Usenet over the years - and sorry that we
can't continue our service.

Yours,
The Wanadoo Support team

Presumably they have done it as I havn't been able to access any of mine since the 17th.

I continually get the pop up message: "Server could not be found".

I can't recall any notice being given of this. However, I am not one to trawl Wanadoo's home page as it seems to be written by and for juveniles.

I can confirm I emailed Wanadoo regarding this and have recieved confirmation that they have indeed ceased providing its customers with a newsgroup service and I applogise for not posting the confirmation earlier - lack of time & frequently having less functioning brain cells is my excuse !!!

Now you would think it polite of Wanadoo if they were to initially inform customers of this change wouldn't you or even simply put a message on its website - after all, in theory this is a change to the service/T&Cs - but oh no, not Wanadoo. They just let confused customers see the error message 'Server not found' and wonder what the heck is happening.
It does seem strange that I get countless emails concerning 'Wanadoo Rewards', yet they cannot be bothered to formally inform customers they will no longer be able to access newsgroups via Wanadoo.

I recall one of the advertising campaigns having the punch line of being able to do whatever you Wanadoo with Wanadoo - that is unless you wanted to carry on using Wanadoos servers and expected to be formally informed of a detremental change in the service.

0/10 for Wanadoo withdrawing the service
&
-10/10 for Wanadoo not even being bothered enough to inform its customers of the change in service.
