Want to move away from Talktalk

Hi Everybody,

New to this forum, I have TalkTalk as an ISP, the broadband quality is OK, but really disappointed with their customs service.

I can't get Virgin Fibre, can anybody recommend a better ISP with good customer service?

Just about any ISP is better, but what are your requirements and price point??

Are you a huge downloader, a gamer needing good pings, a tight-wad who reuses every teabag at least twice??

Dont forget to check out the line rental costs, call costs and any call connection/termination costs (this is how BT sting you).

My friend has a budget 38Mb fibre package from BT that is costing him more per month than my premium 80Mb package from another ISP because of the extra line rental and the HUGE hidden call costs, especially the calls not covered by UK geographic and 0800 type numbers.

If you can't get Virgin, then Sky Broadband are probably the best quality among the biggest ISPs. However if you don't mind paying extra then consider providers like Zen Internet, IDNet, Aquiss, AAISP and so forth.

Just remember, TalkTalk are on a fully unbundled network and thus sometimes moving to a different service may result in the loss of your phone number.

Many Thanks to all for the advise. I am not a heavy user or downloadeder, but the kids do a lot of on-line gaming.

Will do some research on the advise given, my budget is @ £30 o'er month including line rental.

More questIons to follow no doubt :-)

Hi,
Sorry for butting into this thread, but am also looking to achieve the same as Ravy. I also have Talktalk and it gives me continuous buffering, loss of service whilst streaming on my Amazon firestick (modified software). These ISPs you're discussing may be very good for traditional ISPs but how good are they for streaming services, do they have restrictions. Am not looking for a budget isp as my home is fully sorted wrt network equipment and I need reliability. Assistance will be great fully received

Tara

If it's reliability you want then smaller providers are where you should be looking (as above), but you will of course pay extra for it. Also don't forget that the quality of broadband will vary from house to house and location to location, so sometimes simply moving provider won't help if the performance issue stems from an underlying problem with the local infrastructure.

Most ISPs should have no trouble with streaming performance.

The ONLY time I have had issues with Aquiss was during the first Euro16 match, when the internet slowed to a crawl; other than that, the household have streamed films from China, watched YouTube videos, downloaded massive torrent files of old US TV shows, and online gamed (takes up 8Mbps all on its own!!) at the same time without anyone suffering.

I can reacall a long list of problems with talk talk after AOL sold me to them without telling me and I ignored all their emails as spam then all my setings and emails with AOL went to hell and i never got adecent day with them for months hen wehen i finally got it sorted it wasn't fast or anything for its time. Fortunately i was long gone before 15 year old took it over.

I am amazed they are still in business.

Vispa sold my line to TT, and I never even got an email to ignore; in fact they denied it point blank; yet SOMEHOW my phone number ended up being owned by TT. (and my internet connection got pointed at a BT log-in page.
