I've bought a Scancom prepaid EE 5G SIM and put it into a Huawei H352-381 5G CPE Max 5 router.
It only gives me 4G and reports the connection as "BT".
However, I also have an EE 5G SIM in my iPhone, so I put that into the Huawei to test it. It gives me 5G and reports the connection as "EE". I get a strong 5G signal.
But here is where it gets really weird. If I put the prepaid SIM into my phone, it does give me 5G! So clearly 5G is working and enabled on the new prepaid SIM.
Attached image shows some screenshots from the Huawei control pages.
I realise that BT now own EE. But why would 2 SIMs behave differently like this? I've contacted Scancom and they have no ideas. Because their SIM works in my phone they say there must be no problem with the SIM. Nevertheless, there must be a reason why their SIM reports a given tower as "BT" and my EE SIM reports that same tower as "EE"?
Anyone have any clues what might be happening here?
