What do you reckon my chances of getting on this tower are!

Current Situation

Using a Huawei B715s on Three, upstairs at back of house, have line of sight to a large Tower at a Motorway service area. On 4g+ am getting a stable 80Mbps down and 25Mbps up with no real issues apart from the odd time one of the providers takes it offline for maintenance (Its shared by all 4 main networks)

At the front of the house I can get a 4G Signal to a tower about the same distance away with 25Mbps down and 15Mbps up, I have used this tower on occasions when my main tower is down but normally dont use it as its slower.

The kicker is this secondary tower has now been upgraded to 5G, but my main tower near the motorway has not, fingers crossed and all that but you never know

What do you reckon my chances of getting 5G from this secondary tower are despite being just out of area on the Three Checker map.

My Normal Tower is the RED Dot on the Image by the motorway, My Location is the Green Dot and the 5G service is the service splodge on the map

Dont want to start splashing out an expensive 5G external antenna and 5G Router if its going to be erratic or not much faster

Well, knowing your location well, the one thing you've got going for it is you are very high up in your location. The problem you'll have is 5g is not designed for long range like 4g as its designed for close-in use. Whether you can just use a 4g sim and latch on to 5g is something I don't think you'll be able to do.

I just had a wander down to the tower (Its a lovely new design), but despite it showing live on the Three Map, it seems like its not on and not been commissioned yet

(No 5G on my phone standing next to it and still has stickers on it pre commisioning)

So will give it a week and try with my phone again before committing to a 5G Router

Is that along the top of Sutton road? The range of 5g is around 1000ft, so you'll have to do some measuring to your house! :)

Seems a daft place to put it there, population density isn't at all that great with the A38 right next to it.

Yep it is daft, but not as bad as the one they have put in at Pleasley Vale that actually covers nothing but Pleasley Park, no houses nothing. Yet 3 are banging on that this is 5G Cover for Mansfield!!!
