What signal figures matter the most?

This applies to both 4g and 5g as i am using two directional antennas, one seems to be handling the 4g and the other 5g

My stats are as follow

4G
RSRP
-96
RSRQ
-8
SINR
11

5G
RSRP-NSA
-96
RSRQ-NSA
-2
SINR-NSA
24

Combined i am getting around 300meg down which is alright but i was wondering out of those reference states (RSRP,RSRQ,SNR etc) which ones should i be looking at that translates directly to tasty megas *speed*

For Me, Signal wise, the most important are RSRP and SNIR.

As for translating Signal levels to Internet Speeds, there is no direct correlation between Signal Quality and Download or Upload Speeds.

Good Speed is all about a good Signal and available Frequency Bandwidth.

But,..... if you want to attempt and improve your Data Speed Quality and Consistency the two Signal Levels I've mentioned above are a good place to start.

And a carrier providing enough available back-haul from your local mast to the data centre so it isn't over contended by thousands of users. You can have the best signal figures known to man and if your mast is over-contended utterly pitiful speeds.
 
I find those charts to be incredibly misleading.

LTE as a standard was built to be useable at lower power levels, hence why connectivity can be maintained to as low as -140dBm RSRP.

In reality, anything above -100dBm RSRP is considered perfectly acceptable.
Anything more than -100dBm RSRP adds no significant improvement.

Next is SINR, higher the better but is only typically reported from the primary carrier. +20 dBm SINR good, -20 dBm SINR bad.

Next, RSRQ is an indicator of cell loading and quality of the signal, the closer to 0 the better.
 
I don't pay much attention to them to be honest. Yes they have meaning, but i've also had situations where I have extremely strong SINR and poor speed, and situations where i've had borderline non-existent 5G SINR and great speeds. The only thing I care about is the speed I get.

Right, last night I spent some time playing with my own router. Literally getting the very best and totally stable SINR and RSRP/Q for 5G, same with the 4G connection plus constant <65 RSSI for 4G. Amazing stats.

Only just thought to speed test, this was at 1am by the way, noticeably lower speeds even from the same tower. Made no sense to me at all. I'm in a bungalow, thought I'd finally get the router up to the ceiling and out of the way, apparently didn't do it any favours. I even tried tweaking the router so the 4G can see both towers perfectly balanced and tried solely the other tower. Same situation. Barely 60mbps down and 30 up. Usually I'm 150< down and 50< up even in the day time.

The only thing I can think of is when it's higher up, there's more interference but apparently this isn't reflecting in the stats I'm logging anyhow unless aimed between both masts.

Could it have been the band in use? Lower MHz bands (i.e 8,20,28 etc) have more coverage and therefore usually boost the numbers of SNR and RSRP/Q
 
Didn't I read somewhere that some bands get shut down overnight to save power?

On Three I find my router's auto band selection gives me B1, B3, N78, N78 (10Mhz, 15, 100, 20) carrier aggregation but I get pretty much the same download and double the upload manually selecting B3, N78 (15, 100).

Same bands being utilised from the same tower in original vs new position B28+N28+N78+N78. Signal stats all superior after tweaking in new position but speeds are reduced even with no apparent interference. So I want to know what else could be the cause of this, I think personally the router isnt showing true interference, maybe it's not sensitive enough.

A common powersaving strategy is to power off 2 or more radio branches (MIMO sleep) off peak. You would need to know how many streams your router is using, which I doubt it will show

Hmm, and in the original position they'd be less likely to be turned off due to a lesser signal or something? Tested in the day also, definitely always faster in the position with worse signal stats no matter the time, I'm wondering if keeping the router closer to signal edge encourages somehow for the radio branches to remain awake or something along those lines?

Its a H122-373 so I think I can only see one base UL and DL and one 5G UL/DL yes
