What speed are you getting with Be?

I really want to know what speeds people are getting on Be's £14 p/m package.
Please also include any other information like your exchange.. distance etc.

I am getting 3.9 to 4mbps down and 988 upload

Almost double what BT / BT Wholesale providers could give me \o/

I am around 4 to 4.2 miles away cable wise - to my exchange (Guildford).

Download rates are always the maximum for my line but there are some people in central London and the north who do experience congestion in the evenings.

Cool thanks. Time for me to change. Eclipse haven't been able to offer me more than 140kB/s for the past few weeks.

Central London. Do you know to what extent the congestion in the evenings is?

Are Be turning out to be better on speed & ping than Eclipse?
Thanks

Yes they are better speeds :p but thats just because I get better sync with ADSL2+

Eclipse were never a problem for me and I was on the lowest tariff.

Not sure on pings - don't really play much games but I know some people on the congested BE* Exchanges have had higher pings in the evenings.

Ok well I shall see what Eclipse winback come up with. (Assuming they have a winback department). I have asked for a MAC.
I might end up staying, might not. The 1-3 week downtime while Be get connected doesn't sound like too much fun, neither does the connection charge.

Ok.. Try 15 mins downtime between switching.. where did you hear 1-3 weeks??
When I joined the connection fee was £24. That is less than I am saving in a year by going from ukOFFline to BE.

Modulation: G.992.5 Annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,274 / 9,111
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [KB/KB]: 52.00 / 99.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 20.0 / 39.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7.0 / 8.0

15 mins! Oooh wowey. I thought it was 1-3 weeks as per their FAQ.

The faq refers to the time length that it could take BT to get around to doing it.
Which in my experience was 7 working days.
Then your downtime is the length of time it takes for a openworld engineer to hook up the cable!

That makes me feel better about moving. Now if only Eclipse would send me the $&@!% MAC like I asked!

Will my broadband service be disrupted if I transfer from another provider to Be?

Once we have your MAC key and your completed order we can start moving you over to Be. The entire process will take around two weeks. During the changeover you will briefly lose your broadband connection, but we’ll ensure that it’s up and running - at ludicrously high speeds - in as short a time as possible.
