Im sure many who followed my previous thread and offline issues will remember the significant crap we went to before moving into council housing, yet again issues might make us homeless or at least put us into more debt T_T

obviously lm posting this as a rant, need somewhere non-judgemental to let off steam without ppl saying whos in the right or not LOL but also its always cool to hear advice from other peeps who might even shine a light on our situation and give us a way out of the issues through sound advice :)

in any case up til recently my father was unemployed, we thought things were starting to change when we was sucsessful in his application with a company called Meter-U, basically the job entails reading electric and gas meters, so this means allot of driving between customers houses, this would be ok if he was being paid enough to do the job and actually getting fuel expenses to cover his travel!!

this is where the issues start, we felt we should inform the housing benefits section about his employment however because his invoice was for around £400 this meant we could not claim housing benefit and the first advisor indicated that it would be stopped, regardless of what we said he would not take into account that out of that £400 around 75% of it was being spent on fuel for the car and stated that they did not care about our expenses but the total that was being brought into the household, this would mean that after spending out on fuel expenses and the rent we would be left in our new banks overdraft (which we were in already for the same reason "fuel expenses") this also coupled with the fact my mothers JSA has also been stopped (reasoning being that my father was employed) meaning that we cannot afford food or bills (tho we are disputing the issues and appealing decissions) the most annoyng thing is the possiblity of going into arrears and the fact that we also have a £200 water bill (they dont meter it for some reason its a set yearly amount regardless of the fact we havent been here for more than 6 months).

the most annoying thing about the situation is that even if l helped and cleared myself out my jobseekers allowance wouldnt even cover the bills regardless of the fact that l already have my own to pay, tho l may take on the water bill if they do it monthly at a lower rate. all in all this year hasnt just been hell its been downright crap and even tho we hadnt planned celebrating christmas we cant even to put a proper dinner on the table, l know this season isnt about gifts but even if we got no presents the dinner was something to look forward to T_T

about the only things left to do is put new claims through and speak to ACAS... again (already have one claim through them pending), pray and hope dad can sign back on if he quits the job, and hope that we can get a job that pays the bills and not creates them.

guess thats the end of my rant for the moment lol

Hi timeless. It sucks doesn't it? I was in the same situation years ago, I got off of the dole with a short term contract, and by the time they had finished buggering me about I ended up with less money than I had started with; the way I see it, your are screwed either way, no wonder so many people work for the "grey" economy.
