An award for the worst pieces of technology journalism should definitely be split between these two:

http://www.news.com.au/technology/t...is-anyones-guess/story-e6frfro0-1225995086627
I can't even bring myself to quote much from these articles without turning red; most of it is incredibly inaccurate. It's almost as bad as the newspapers that cover climate change reports and invariable show headlines that reach completely opposite conclusions and ignore context.
Still, the best quote has to be..
Website developers huh? Six digit IP's?
Now in fairness I can see where all the mistakes come from in the articles and if anything it's a good example of just how little some people understand about internet infrastructure. This perhaps reflects the problems with government policy right now, which often fails to understand the technology underneath.

" Web developers have tried to compensate for this problem by creating IPv6 -- a system that recognizes six-digit IP addresses rather than four-digit ones."
