Where Next ??

As it looks like Fast4 is out to shaft its current customer base (judging by the amount of posts on here this weekend)

Who should i choose as my Next ISP ..... I want someone relatively Cheap - reliable and and sumone who i can move with Incase i get a call from home that i suddenly have to pack up n leave here!

Thats 2 ISP's in a Row that have Seriously made me look like a Mug ......

Tiscali  and Now Fast4

So who Next ...... i dont want ripping off this time ..... ive got very little money to start with !

Most ISPs have a lower price range it just means you schedule downloads when you are in bed on the off peak time.
It is easier to help recomend once we know what you use it for.
Light users tend to be those who surf the net emails and occasional downloads.

Ok so what im looking for ...... im a fairly Light user

I download the occasional music album .... Listen to internet radio (about 20 hours a week) Surf and email - Oh and Use MSN (when i can) something i havent been able to manage with fast4 for some strange reason can never seem to keep it signed in for more than 2 mins..... so far its looking like Orange ..... but hey hum im still in the dark regards anyone else.

all suggestions would be appreciated.

Best thing would be to get a usage monitor (theres loads free) and see how much you use for a typical month. That way you have a rough idea of how much youd need.

A lot of people are scared of getting charged (usually a pound a GB) if they go over their limit.

But its not much....a pound. And any decent ISP that has a limit will allow you to monitor how much you have used for the current month. Some also email you to warn you if your approaching the limit.

A much better arrangement than having a p1ss poor ISP thats dirt cheap.

May i ask whom Your with Old Dude?? - Coz fast4 really are taking the biscit LOL

i dont generally tend to go over 30gb a month so it shouldnt be an issue whom im with as long as i can get a stable connection - something i never had with tiscali and something ive struggled with while with fast4......

Im with eclipse, been with them for many years. However, they have fallen, and Im waiting to move house (****** solicitors!) so will go with a new ISP once Im there.

Im currently looking at IDnet, and perhaps an entanet supplier. Will see whats going on when I move.

Yes, per GB its more expensive than a certain ISP I shouldnt mention  , but its sustainable and has a good reputation.

I paid slightly more for eclipse many years ago, and never had a problem. However now, Im having problems like many websites very slow to load, occasional drop outs, etc. It could be me, but unless its my line has a fault then its not - Ive changed all my equipment (router, cables, different computer).

Eclipse did start offering low priced packages. not unlimited, but a lot of GB for the money. And not long after that, complaints start rolling in, just the usual you see, poor customer support, bad speeds etc.

A cheap ISP will be good for a while, but its only worth it if your prepared to put up with the hassle.

well thats a blessing coz i was looking at Eclipse - Phew!! i dont think ill bother ...... im half tempted with Orange or even BT ..... but ill wait n see what happens with fast4 n their responces!! B4 i start deciding on mac codes etc .... ill keep ya informed.

the old eclipse flex packages were better totally unlimited, iam still on flex 500 which is a 512k speed rate which i can increase to 1mb for 5p per hour or 2mb for 10p per hour, never have done so,

i use pc most days download 1 or 2 cd,s per week 1 or 2 movies per week 3 kids on msn and bebo usually 2 machine connected most evenings and pay £18 per month i use about 20gb personnally per month never tested daughters laptop usage but no capps

did speed test (braodband choice) at 4.30pm today and it came back as 0.95mb not bad for a 512k connection

would like 2mb connection but the flex packages have been discontinued and dont like the new plans with peak and off-peak limits
