Where to buy 5G router?

I am just looking for some advice on where people have previously bought 5G routers from.

My mum currently has a Three ZTE 5G router but the Three service is *shocking*. Because when they cancel the contract they're going to need to return it, I was planning on just buying a 5G router like the same ZTE one which has actually been pretty good or the CPE Pro 2 but the prices are kind of ridiculous on Amazon.

I remember a few people recommending online router stores but couldn't remember which ones.

Edit: I should also ask which one is worth going for, the ZTE or otherS?

depends on which networks are available in your house? Three works extremely well for me but if you buy an unbranded, flashed or unlocked one then you may get security or connection issues. Firmware updates are important to this technology which is still improving every day. I have the ZTE mc801a...works great. At the end of my 24 months I MIGHT have to send it back..they send you a pre-paid envelope I believe...but you have the option to keep it and by then Three probably will not want it back anyway.
Also, in 2 years I will be wanting the latest model available so this suits me fine. I will get the best deal I can at that time...with cashback.
Back of the net!!

If proposing a solution for others, particularly non-technical you need to ensure its dependable and currently something 5G certainly isn't.

I also have Zyxel NR5103E from Three UK (on Three monthly plan) providing excellent LTE running on EE while the Three SIM is used elsewhere. It has to be the best value currently particularly if you have a good Three signal.

I take your point but so far after 4/5 months my 5G home broadband has been more reliable than my old, copper FTTC was... and 18 times faster!

Before I buy the wrong one. Is it the 3 ZTE or Huawei which has locked DNS settings which don't work on other networks?

Either the CPE Pro or the MC801A but I vaguely remember that whilst both being unlocked the DNS settings were locked to Three’s on one of them so even when used on another network, were not usable because of this.

I think we are in need of good 5G routers, not these half-arsed, half-locked things we have to keep fiddling with endlessly.
I think the Huawei have proven themselves, I'd get an unlocked CPE Pro or Pro2 despite only supporting N78.

If only the Shat-too wasn't so expensive..

Which bands do Vodafone use for 5G? That's the priority network now for us.
3410-3460
3500-3540
2134-2150 (n1)
940-948 (n8?)

n78 currently but new NRARFCN's TBC soon. If you are well in range of n78 it will probably stay but further away it may change going forward with stronger signals becoming available on other frequencies.

Neither have DNS and all sims work on both. Got both and use controlD
