Which isp are you with please?

One thing i would say is be very carefull going for any isp that wants 6, 12 or more months payment up front. You stand to loose it all should the service/company go downhill or close. Monthly contract suit most people more as they are easy to get out of (well most ;-) )

Good tech support with no premium rate telephone call charges

E7even's technical support is £1 per minute.

If you're into P2P or "illegal downloads" - according to this :- http://p2pnet.net/story/4201 E7 is not a wise choice

In the near future we will be carrying out spot checks on our network to ensure that users are not illegally sharing/downloading files, any users found to be sharing/downloading files illegally will have their E7even accounts terminated in accordance with clause 6.1 of our Terms and Conditions.

Having said that my brother is with them and is very happy with the service.

Thanks Keith & Mel for posting.

Mel, I just discovered 'legal' downloads/ video & audio streams i.e. Yahoo music These are sure to exhaust any bandwidth limits of 5GB per month, especially when my daughter sees what can be done!

I am very interested in Eclipse. I may call them tomorrow and see if they answer the phone - That's usually a good experiment to conduct for checking Customer Services ;)

Richard,

I know there has been some concerns with Pipex customer service , but I have to speak as I find, on the odd occasion that I have had to speak to them they have been extremely helpful.

Hi Richard,

I have been with Eclipse for for nearly 3 years & have had hardly any reason to get in touch with their tech support.
If I was going to change ISP I would take a serious look at Freedom2Surf £24.99 per month Uncapped for up to 8Mb.

cheers

I'm making my first venture into ADSL. I chose from six knowing NDO was a good bet at the start. After my search I signed up with them.
Draw your own conclusions. Just in case NDO is yellow.
Also there was free activation until end July.

Thanks Bill :)

Salvador, well apart from AOL offering me 512kbs for £15.99 for 12mths (new contract), I have heard nothing about lower prices - IF you do, please post it on ispreview. :) Not sure why I did not comment on Demon, probably because Eclipse has captured my interest. I will re-look at them. May I ask why you are interested in them please?

Pcblues, I'll be lucky if I can get 1MB! You may not remember but I had to get the BT CEO involved to get me any adsl.

rollinstone, I am looking at migrating so free activation is not relevant unless I lose the mac number - I have NDO as No2 at the moment.

Thank you guys for the time and trouble you have gone to - Have a nice evening :D

I agree with pcblues sentiments re http://www.f2s.com/. Been with them a year now and have never had to speak to anyone at HQ. No downtime, speed 1Mb always excellent. Free migration at the moment and monthly contract.

Worth a look. Ive been very happy with them.

Useful f2s site at www.freedom2support.net an independent site with a forum for customers, that the f2s staff post on and answer queries and faqs etc.

RRU,

Demon charges £19.99 for up to 2MB uncupped connection. I have read good reviews about them from people that use them. No other particular reason, however, if you cannot get more than 512 then Demon is not for you.

Good luck

No problem, I should have spent a few seconds more reading your post. I have been keeping an eye on NDO these past few months in preparation for the "plunge". ;)

Hi Richard,

Eclipse also do free migration & as you are ltd on your speed the 512Kb uncapped offering looks pretty good although the "uncupped" service that Salvador is talking about looks really interesting :)

Im with Plusnet on their 14,99 2mb package and tbh im totaly happy. Everytime ive used tech/customer support they have been brill. Well worth £14 smackers each month and half the price i was paying pipex.

Choices choices!

Hi Richard,

Have you decided yet which ISP you're going to go with?

Rare, I have full speed and a stable connection once again on AOL. I have received no reasons why the connection dropped or why the speed decreased. I have sent emails to AOL asking for some explanation, I have yet to receive a reply.

I have however, received 2 emails from AOL Broadband Management - The first offering AOL Silver for £15.99 (includes details on freephone support and then a footnote stating call costs) - Confusing!

The second email welcomed me to AOL Silver at £17.99. Even more confusing.

When I connected to AOL via their software last night I received a pop asking me to agree to their Terms & Conditions. I promptly Ctrl Alt Delete and closed the software down. Back to my DUN connection! The only reason I put AOL software on was that last week one of their techies told me they could not help me unless I had the software installed.

I was looking at Eclipse but having sent them an email asking several questions on Sunday, I have yet to receive a reply from them.

My AOL mac is valid for 30 days, so I have some time to decide yet.

I've been with Plusnet over 2 years, easily been downloading/uploading 30Gb per month, and am now paying less than I had been paying a tear ago. No complaints from Plusnet and certainly none from me, I wouldn't change from Plusnet and would recommend them to anyone.

Try Metronet exellent service and speed bean with them 12 months 100% changed to plusnet 1mg £14.99 because i wanted a caped price only downside slower speed than metronet and restriction on p2p apart from thath good service

have a look at freedom2surf.net

10gb for £19.99 or £24.99 for unlimited (within reason)

Well is was 100Gb a month in 'normal' time and unlimited from midnight to 6am before they announced the unlimited change so if that is a guide it looks like you need to really hammer it before they would be concerned. This is the one I am on and even though it is umlimited you can still get the meter readings for your usage from the site including the split between the normal and off peak.
