Which mobile network MVNO find the best in terms of VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling which one do you prefer for me giffgaff is the best when it comes to VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling they use the O2 network I have used the O2 network since 2013 it is an absolute game changer having these features on giffgaff now last year I was on the mobile network Leabara which uses Vodafone I left giffgaff because of the issues I've I had with my signal ever since I returned to giffgaff it has completely changed with VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling but I use Wi-Fi calling a lot of the time

EE and those who piggyback on their own IMS works well for it. O2's own is also good.

Vodafone and Three's implementation are more or less unusable where I live. And then the cheap operators who run their own versions of it like Sky, Lyca and Spusu are pretty dire for VoLTE Too in my opinion.

I'm bucking the trend here and switching from 1p to Talk Home (EE) who have no VoLTE or WiFi calling, solely to get my 10GB for £5 rather than £8 with 1p. 😊

Tried them out for a couple of months first of course, and calls have been just fine, I can always move back if I have any future problems.(y)

Going to PAC in on the 18th of next month so my O2, Talkmobile and Talk Home allowances all renew on the same day, isn't OCD a wonderful thing? :giggle:

I have unlimited Three data, so that date doesn't matter. 😁

If you are exclusively after the data they should be fine for your needs. It's just the VoLTE that's the problem. Most devices can't drop to 2G quick enough while in standby to receive an incoming call. And for calls in general EE's 2G is the worst there is since it's all at 1800MHz and call audio is highly compressed also.

If you are actually using the calls it sounds like you've been lucky so far during testing, but I would still be hesitant to recommend going ahead with porting over.

Yes I agree Koda, I'm just not a heavy call user and all my calls so far have been fine with Talkhome.

I just really want the data at the best value, I will still be porting over next month, but 1p mobile for most normal users is by far the best choice, I agree.

I've been with them for a while now and can't fault them, apart from the data stinginess.:giggle:

Either 1p (EE) or Tesco Mobile pay monthly (O2). Check if EE has coverage around your area and if it reaches indoors. O2 has good coverage except in places where its pants.

'Talk Home Mobile is powered by the UK’s largest and fastest network – EE. Therefore, Talk Home users can enjoy high-quality VoLTE services. Most of the high-profile handsets are supported all over the United Kingdom.'

This is a bit of an oddity on the Talk Home blog.(2021) :giggle:

Just to remind ourselves

Network 2G Frequencies
EE 1800MHz
O2 900MHz
Three –
Vodafone 900MHz

With 3G closing the providers focus has been 4G VoLTE.

My view is that MVNO's should not be allowed now to be selling minutes if they cannot support VoLTE.

2G really will now only being maintained for temporary backwards compatibility for certain obligations. Most of us should be able to still get 2G in urban fine but those in rural should choose the best one (which is more likely to be O2 still).

My personal view remains a Dual SIM pair. The primary should be the SIM where the VoLTE is reliable (for your primary number) and the second to cover holes in their 4G coverage, Test out device ability to call/receive over second SIM, even if it is supposed to work.

Three obviously don't have 2G and I have only had VoLTE issues on MVNOs with the exception of Tesco (O2) and ADSA (Voda phone on 4G only) which are proving good.

Currently my main phone SIM is still EE and I do not have issues.

I'm on Voxi using a Moto G31 and VoLTE / WiFi Calling only work when I have a 2G signal. In the absence of a 2G signal I can still make calls over 4G/Wifi but can't receive them. So I wouldn't recommend that combination.

Bit of a penny pincher aren't you

Already got the goods, all ready for activation day. (y) 😊
(The 10GB for £5 offer is via MSE should anyone be interested, first 3 months are £1.49)

No issues with Vodafone (or it's MVNOs TalkMobile and Lebara) for VoLTE or Wifi Calling as long as it likes the device and you give them a week to activate it. As I've been using Samsung phones this has been fine. As long as you have the right kit, they are fine. Anything a bit funny and they are not the ones to go with.

Would never recommend a Pixel to anyone who wants smooth VoLTE/Wifi Calling around the world or on MVNOs.

My main number is also on Talk Home at the moment, £0.01 for 4GB for me at the moment. It's been fine, my phone seems to switch to 2G quickly enough and I've not missed any calls. However I'll be moving it back into my Lebara £1.25 50GB SIM later this month.

Yes my phone switches fine here too tre3, not missed any calls either, I'm sure it'll get VoLTE and WiFi calling eventually, not at all bothered how long that takes though, but I do understand it's a deal breaker for some. :)

Well he is a Scot
South North (or North England as some call it) folks are by far the worst I have come across for deep pockets short arms ;)

I am looking around for a sim for a dashcam so its mostly between a voda based or ee based here, o2 isnt bad here but its pretty awful if we travel anywhere.
I like the Talk Mobile website, quite clean and clear on initial impressions.
