Which phone?

Hi,

I'm looking for a new phone, but I haven't kept up with developments so I don't really know what is available - I currently use a Nokia 8310, which still like. And I'm on a budget. Any suggestions (no motorola phones - I won't touch them)

Must haves:
Camera (don't care about video playback or recording though)
MP3 playback (with ability to expand space with memory cards)

Nice to haves:
Basic PDA functions

So far I have looked at:

Sharp GX-30 (I work for Sharp, though not in the mobi division)
Nokia 6230 (out in April)
Handspring Treo 600 (a bit expensive for me, but tempting)

Any ideas?

If you've ever used a real digital camera you will be very disappointed with the pictures taken with a phone-camera, they are, to be blunt, cr*p; on par with a £20 100k pixel camera i bought for my son a few years ago; ie, ok on a stationary target in bright sunlight but a blurry mess on anything else.

I know, thanks - I just want the ability to take happy snaps without carting my proper digital camera (a 3.2mp Olympus that produces excellent pics) around.

Way too expensive - £300-£400 whereas the Treo is between £50-£200 depending on contract and the Sharp is £150 or less (I expect the Nokia to be similarly priced).

I just can't afford it (or justify it to my girlfriend, which is perhaps more of an issue :crap: ) especially since I'll have to buy a largewr memory card on top of the phone (whichever one I choose).

It is a nice phone though!

I have a P900 after previously owning the P800, the 800 is basically the same as the 900. The key differences are that the P900 has a more customisable interface (GUI) and far better quality screen, otherwise you can pick them up on eBay for around £100 now (if you take the time to shop). So don’t rule out the P800.

Otherwise the Treo isn’t bad, although I’ve heard that battery life can be variable. Both are slightly bigger than the norm phones, thus weigh a bit extra. The Sony Ericsson T630 is also a good little phone, although without the better PDA features.

A Nokia 6600?

It only has mono MP3 but to be honest it isn't noticeable, and the camera quality is good.

Owning a 3650 at the moment, I have ordered a 6600 from Mobileshop on Voda Xnet 200 + 50 Texts and it was free...

Half price first 3 months too :)
