Why do isps say I can't get fibre when I'm using it now?

My fibre broadband contract ends in a month. I want to change isp. When I check possibilities, most tell me fibre is not available to me. They ask for my current isp, why not ask if I have a current fibre connection?

Who are you getting your service from?
Is it FTTC or FTTP?
Are you using the online checkers, drones in Bangalore, or talking to humans living in the UK.

BT system wont admit I can have FTTC, because I already HAVE FTTC.
The BT system DOES say I can have FTTP, but then when I try to order it, says I cannot have it.

Service is FTTC from Sky, who want to bounce my price about 40% when my contract ends. After much searching I got an answer from Ofcom. All fibre slots in my local cabinet are taken. Each ISP has it's own allocation and can't take up my existing slot as that's for Sky. So it's stick with Sky or go back to adsl! No chance of more slots allocated before the end of April, and no guarantee they'll be available then. Unless I go with Virgin.

ISP's don't get allocated a number of ports that's rubbish, its likely all the ports are used and the cab needs a expansion.
