Wifi 4G router with battery and ethernet

After my FTTP connection going down I've been having a look at 4G routers and ideally want something I could use as a stopgap for the FTTP but also I could travel with if needed. The Netgear Nighthawk m6 looks ideal but the price is far too high, the HTC 5G Hub looks quite good but I can't really find it for sale.

Is there anything else similar to look at?

If it's just for travelling and as a backup for when your fixed connection goes down, why not a phone?

Many allow you to use ethernet with a cheap USB-C to Ethernet adapter or a cheap USB-C hub if you also want to keep the phone charging. They also have a battery, good 4G/5G support, can create a WiFi network, etc.

I don't know about iPhones, but you can find cheap Androids (eg: a Google Pixel 4 or 5) that do all this. If you root the phone, you can also have some control over the bands the phone connects to.

ZTE MU5001 ticks all your boxes (and also does 5G!). Around £150 if you don't mind a pre-owned one.

That looks absolutely perfect (y)

I'm assuming there's an ethernet and non-ethernet one, looking at the preowned ones I'm not seeing an ethernet port on the side with the USB-C port. Cex seem to have one specified as having an ethernet port for just over £200 so that's still better than others I've found.

Thanks for the suggestion especially since I hadn't come across this one after searching for a while.

No problem. I wasn't aware that there was a version without Ethernet - mine was the Vodafone branded version and had an Ethernet/RJ45 connector. The USB port will also do an Ethernet emulation mode.

I didn't know there was a version without Ethernet either just seen it's only £100 for that one at Cex

To follow this up I managed to get a used ZTE MU5001 with ethernet for £90 off ebay. It was unboxed and without accessories plus clearly used but I'm not bothered, it works fine. I'm extremely pleased with the device as it's pretty much exactly what I wanted so again thanks for the recommendation.

If anyone is shopping for one of these and wants ethernet be careful to check with the seller, this version I think is older and the model without ethernet seems a lot more common. I came across a couple of sellers who probably just pasted in the description listing the ethernet port but when I checked with them they realised that was an error and corrected the listing.

£90 is a good price for it, considering others on ebay are asking circa £139 for it and other even sillier prices for it from sellers outside the UK :)

Yes it was a great price and I think the next closest I'd found was £210 so was making me consider whether to have the ethernet port or not.
