Will I ever get billed by Tiscali ?

Biz

I have been signed up to the Tiscali Anytime package since October 2001. Since then they do not seem to have billed me. Nothing seems to have been deducted from my credit card account. I assume that this is an oversight by Tiscali.

Has anyone else had this experience ?

From past experience (over a year) I was never at any stage billed on a monthly basis on the same date. A bill for two months and then a bill for three months was the norm. You must really watch them.

I haven't been billed since January on Tiscali50 - prior to this payment was all over the shop.

They've emailed me to say they've lost my payment details, given me a new customer ID and password, and told me to alter my account online before 31st May otherwise I'll be on PAYG. However, this incompetent ISP will not give me access to the My Account section of the site - I've been trying for some three weeks now to access this area.

When I try to login to their forums to tell them using my email address and password they won't allow me access - never have. They do not reply to my emails - I've sent three now.

Basically, they are a shambles. It would be interesting to know how many people have been laid off at their place in the last nine months and if they were all in customer services.

i'm glad it's not just me that's noticed that they're all over the place. i stay with them cause they're cheap (i'm on tiscali 50) but i haven't been billed for ages either. i went to he my account section on the homepage and it said they'll start billing me in june...

I left them last July and was billed for the final month of my Tiscali 50 account at the end of April. They'd promised me in writing a refund on my phone account which would have exceeded the internet charge, but they reneged on that and ignored my emails about it. I'm just relieved now to be finally free of one of the most administratively incompetent companies I've ever had to deal with.

I too got funny treatment from Tiscali. I changed last year from 24/7 to off peak as my usage was going down (I got married!). Sometime later I had a "last bill" which must have been for the 24/7 service. Heard nothing more but could still connect until a couple of months ago when I was informed (by snail-mail) of my impending cut off for non-payment. Rang helpline (9-5 only and a very annoying automatic answering service) on letter, only to find that tiscali had changed their billing company - hence all the confusion - and they couldn't help. They gave me another number to ring (with even more annoying answering voice - don't use "soothing" voices or your calls won't be "so important to us"! Wanted to cancel account but was eventually advised to go PAYG in order to keep access and email. Unfortunately wife has now discovered Internet and phone bill has shot up! I really feel sorry for localtel and screaming net. They had a few probs but were generally okay. Tiscali messed up big time when they pulled out of the phone providing side of things. They somehow lost (sounds familiar ) my details and couldn't transfer me to their preferred phone company and so I was faced with a possible cut-off. So BT to the rescue! Okay so Tiscali's access has always been quite good, but I'm fed up with it's "we're big so we can do what we like" attitude. If anyone can recommend a good ISP  which I can switch to then please post. :D

Don't worry you will get a bill usualy about 8 months down the line or whenever they feel like it and probably for a lot more then you expect !
Be warned and watch your credit card/bank statement very closely !!!!!!!!

Update Report

It's now July and I still have not been billed by Tiscali since signing up in October. Like KevO they informed me in May that they had lost my account details and would transfer me to PAYG if I did not contact them.

I was happy enough to be transfered in order to get rid of them so I did not contact them and they still have not yet transfered me to PAYG.

Tiscali shareholders please note !
