Windows File Sharing

I have two directories available for sharing, but found that none of the newer files can be accessed on my home network. Anything created after February can't be accessed.

I haven't made any changes to Windows this year, and there's no obvious difference between the old and new files. I tried taking the sharing option off and then put it back on, but that didn't make any difference.

I'd appreciate if you have any ideas.

Thanks.

personally l find it a whole lot easier to map drives, all permissions seem to act like another drive within the computer, it would also be accessable as a hard drive under my computer..

l must admit lve experienced simular issues but found drive mapping seemed to work better than using network shares since it seemed to take so much longer to load via "my network places" etc..

It does sound like an issue with Microsoft's ever ridiculous Group Security Policy system, which I doubt even Albert Einstein would be able to get his head around if he were alive today. Sadly the method they used has changed and lot and you don't say what OS you're using?

Sharing can also be problematic between different versions of Microsoft's operating system. For example it's not uncommon to gain a headache while trying to make XP and Vista or Win7 all talk to one another even when the network settings are correct. Sometimes a simple reboot will fix it but otherwise you might have to re-make the share again before it will work.

which is why l find drive mapping easier lol.
