Windows Update v5 not using ICS Proxy

Windows Update v5 is not using ICS Proxy on networked computers and therefore it is not downloading via satellite on those computers. Has anyone else got this problem? If so have you found a way to make ICS use the proxy on networked computers? I have searched high and low with no answer.

What errors do you get (if any) when you try to launch Windows Update. Have you got SP2 installed?

It works fine on the computer connected directly to the internet. However on the networked PCs Windows Update v5 will only download the updates directly totally ignoring the proxy settings. So you end up with no error messages only the achingly slow dial-up download speed. I don't know what to do. As far as I can tell it is the new automatic update service which is ignoring the proxies. Any ideas much appreciated.

Hi

You have to connect through the web browser for it to work correctly, ie instead of using the task tray to do the update, go to any search engine and type in Windows Update, which will take you to a web based link of the latest update.
