wireless connection limitation troubles

hi, just bought new lap top, and wire less connection, bought new router etc, joined up to tiscali broadband unlimited use, at 2mb, now for the strange bit, can only connect after 6pm each evening, complained at length 4 times to tiscali, but not any better off,,,,,,,,,,,,can any body tell me why????????????????????

Hi,
As you don't say what router you have, it probably worth while checking all the settings on the router. I have noticed that on some routers they can be set up to connect and disconnect at certain times.

gizmo, it's not anything I've come across with a speetouch router.
What model is it exactly.
And what is the problem? by "connect" to you mean log into your ISP? What error message exactly do you get?
Is it exactly 6pm that you can get access?

If you google on "speedtouch " and the model number, you can find the user guide which will tell you about any time considerations.
I'd think it more likely to be Tiscali.

Unless by "connect" you mean run a P2P program, in which case it may be the scheduler within it.

connection trouble

hi,connect to me means connect to internet ,,,,,,,,,,,,speedtouch is ,,,,,,,,,,,,,585v6,,,,,,,,,,adsl2+gateway ............hope this means some thing to some body, thanks ned

I've got that router and there's no facility to stop it connecting till 6pm that I know of.

Is there any electrical device/system/activity around your computer or line that stops at 6pm? Anything your neighbours are doing? Is your line on a pole that runs anywhere suspicious?

Have you got filters on all your phone sockets, including Sky?

Cant see it being a router problem if it connects OK after 6.

connection probs,

right,,,,,,,,,filter on phone, as just one phone, no extentions any where, lines is on a pole, goes straight across road to main pole,so its a mystery, ,,,,,,,,,guess what tiscali rang me after i asked bt to run a line check, which was ok, they say if its no better by tuesday they will send an engineer!!!!!!!,,,,,,,,,

gizmo, can you try it connected by wire instead of wireless to rule out the wireless bit?
If you don't get anywhere with Tiscali, I'd suggest asking at Think Broadband Forum.
There are a lot of knowledgeable people there who will have more ideas.
