lve got a strange issue, for some reason my laptop seems to be downloading really slow, lm barely getting 1mbps (my usual speeds are noted in my signature) and its only really started the last few days, what took me a couple of mins now seems to take me 10m and its not like lve installed or changed anything other that installing wifi stuff..

l ran tests on my roku/Toshiba TV and they suggest lm getting 50mbps+ but lm barely passing the 1mbps mark on my laptop. lm at a loss to make sense of it.

just went through my updates, kb4023057 was installed on the 20th and lve only noticed these issues over the past few days (though it is possible it could have been happening since then, its just lve really mainly noticed over the last couple of days while lve been keeping an eye on downloads).

=================

Edit:

didnt want to triple post but wanted to update that after removing kb4023057 my download speed has back to what l usually expect of my connection (matching the speeds noted in my signature).

I recall that update causing all sorts of irritation earlier this year. Some sort of security change. Unrelated to this I sometimes find that the Windows Update process on my laptop grinds to a halt and oddly the best fix I've found is to switch the laptop between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz side of my WiFi (i.e. if it's on 2.4GHz then swap to 5GHz and vice versa). Nothing to do with the speed of the band.

to be honest after all that messing around with my wireless (its not set to auto any more lol) l couldnt be bothered to revert settings (despite the fact WifI Analyzer recommended l use channel 56, which isnt actually selectable in my options). though all that time spent was annoying considering l could have fixed the issue straight away by just removing the windows update mentioned above.

admittedly I didnt really think it was an app until someone commented about some app that was keeping their speed low back in 2015, after coming across that page l decided to check my install history which lead me to two updates (Adobe and WinUpdate) by process of elimination, l searched the net for the KB article of the update suggesting others had issues with a previous version of it, so l thought ld remove it and after a reboot things seemed to be working fine again.

that said while l was looking for that information l came across facts like my version of windows 10 doesnt have the ability to hide windows updates, but that MS do offer an additional troubleshooting file which can be downloaded from their website to allow me to skip problem updates (versions of home and certain versions of pro dont have the ability to hide updates), its also worth mentioning that if you set your internet connection as metered windows updates wont auto download which came in useful after the restart prior to me running the file allowing me to hide the problem update.

all in all though lm glad l got everything sorted seeing as it was annoying the bejesus out of me that l was going so slow.. nothing more annoying that experiencing fibre speeds but somehow reverting to what felt less than 10meg XD l guess that makes me somewhat spoiled rofl.
