Wireless Router Packages

Hi,

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum!!

Looking for some advice,

Apart from AOL, does anyone know of any other BB supplier that includes free wireless routers with broadband packages?

Cheers in advance

James

This would probably have been better in Hardware/software....

If a Mod thinks its wrong they will move it.....The mods are nice here....They don't bite. ;)

Eclipse have advertise a free wireless router with their option 4 package.

Unless you are looking to move to a new ISP anyway you would be better not basing your options on what router you get from them.

You *MAY* be able to do a little bargaining and tell them you DON'T want whatever item they provide free and see if you can get a reduction on the monthly rate and get your own router. (It can't hurt to ask! )

I have a Netgear 834G(v3) for £55 from Dabs.com
(I'm sure there are places that are probably cheaper)

If you leave an ISP withing the first 12 months (Or whatever new contract you get) you may have to return the router they provided.

Just be careful is all.....Basing your choice on such a minor thing may come around to bite you

the chance of any isp asking for the return of a modem or router when u leave is very very slim indeed what will they do with a used router.

when i joined eclipse over a year ago it stated in the terms and conditions that early exit within 12 months would require return of modem or payment of £25 fee but the sales rep stated that as long as i was with them for atleast 3 months niether of these options would be implemented only the £45 fee in lue of free connection.

i kow of someone who ordered aol but had problems getting service and was given mac code and when he asked about router with customer services was told to keep it as they couldnt use a used router

They might very well bin it, but if you don't return it at your own cost they can charge you whatever you agreed to when you signed the contract.

See:- http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=supanet&Number=2825941

I made the break from supanet just over a month ago after being a customer since January 2005, now well outside of the 12 month contract. I recieved a belated Christmas present from them, they want the return of the complete modem kit or face being charged £30

There will also be a further charge if any of the following are not included with the modem.

2*Filters £4.99 EACH
USB and RJ11 leads £2.50 each
Setup Disk £2.00

So i could face a bill of £46.98

(In the style of Catherine Tates Nan Taylor Character, "What a *ucki* liberty"

I was shocked to recieve a letter, I assumed I owned the modem kit, when I signed a contract it was advertised as free modem, free connection, just like most other isp.
