WoW Trains Terrorists - Hehe

It's one of the funniest stories I've read all year, but the bit I really laughed at is quoted below:

http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,22161037-28737,00.html

Kevin Zuccato, head of the Australian High Tech Crime Centre in Canberra, says terrorists can gain training in games such as World of Warcraft in a simulated environment, using weapons that are identical to real-world armaments.

Oh god no, expect Heathrow to come under attack from suicide dragons and large cows equipped with long glowing poles  . Just how far removed from modern reality are these folks? That’s like accusing the Teletubbies of inciting race hate, or did that already happen? Yes people have gone totally nuts.

The government have forgotten to tell the public that the first of every month is to be known as fools day:D:laugh::)

Just goes to prove that it's not only the USA and the UK who are keen to highlight the ever present and imminent menace of terrorism. Thousands of terrorists are at large and plotting outrages in the UK, the USA and now Australia (although some really are just Doctors with brown faces and beards) and now terrorists are stalking and training in the online gaming community. Am I helping train terrorists when playing Counterstrike?

I think it's one of those "get the people worried with what could be going on" pieces that we see a lot of the time, especially as the Australians at the moment have problems with credibility following recent events. Australia has a right to be worried, considering the relatively volatile situations in some of their near neighbours.

Anyway, I always cast a +99 level shield spell when going anywhere near my local hospital.

The playstation 2 is another paranoia piece. Saddam might have been buying them up to develop some super military computer. Or he might have 4000 odd loyal followers to be rewarded. Either way, he was stealing PS2's from under the noses of the porr and needy US citizens, yet another reason why Iraq had to be invaded.

You know, I have a birthday coming up and it is true: the older you get the more cynical you become.

If VR training is good enough for the British Army and other CRW units, then why not terrorists?

Ah! Not being a gamer I wouldn't have known that.
