Hi Folks.

Anyone else on YouFibre here or indeed hoping to join imminently?

Have to say I'm loving it. Uptime is good, get notified of maintenance via email and text, speeds are stable and very high. It's a high bar for me to be loving a service but this is pretty good.

Be good to see if any other ISPR folks are using it and how their experience is.

I'm hoping to join soon. I've placed an order for a March installation date.

I saw Netomnia working in the street and found out about it that way.

Would like to know how long it took people to actually get it installed.

Currently have 1gbps from Virgin Media, so not in dire need of the FTTP, but will enjoy the symmetric upstream.

BIDB is showing netomnia scheduled to do works accross the town I live in but isn't shown on any rollout I can see.

How long did it take from them starting doing works to when they advertised for taking orders via YouFibre?

To be honest, I'm not sure what the timelines have been.

I think I saw them working up the other end of the street in October or November, but at the time I thought it was Openreach or Virgin Media doing some work.

It was only about three weeks ago that I actually saw a sign advertising Netomnia works next to a dug up section of pavement.

That was the first I'd heard of Netomnia/YouFibre.

I have seen on Twitter that their availability dates can be a bit optimistic, so we'll see when they are actually ready to install.

Youfibre are currently installing where I live, they tell me it will be complete by the end of March! I am just waiting for my Virgin Media price rise letter\email so I can cancel VM and be ready to move over to Youfibre. The reports I have read about Youfibre are very good for both the FTTP and their Customer Service.

For me (PE13), YouFibre promised installation December '21, then July/August '22, then October '22, then mid February this year. Still waiting... .
So installation dates can vary even if can see end of cable... .
I have cable in pole since last March. Nothing changed since.

They've been the same with me, the build started in Nov 2022, still getting that they are surveying the area even though I seen equipment being installed in chambers :ROFLMAO:

They have been installing since July 2002, there are parts of the area that are already working. They did say they would finish in March but they didnt say what year:oops:

:D I have placed an order and had a "select an install date" email, so it does look like they mean March This Year

I had YouFibre installed yesterday.

The team that came to install it were very professional, they routed the fibre cable the way I wanted it to go and left everything very tidy.

Only snag is that the Static IP I ordered doesn't seem to be active, so I've put in a support request about that, but I'm sure it'll be sorted.

YouFibre uses CGNAT (Carrier Grade NAT - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier-grade_NAT) by default on residential connections.

That means that you won't be able to port forward.

You need to pay an additional £5 a month to get a static IP, and then you should be able to port forward.

Thank You, @Daveoc64
I still need to wait for my happy day. For some reason, they connected half town (PE13) and stuck since last October.

I am researching putting a VPN on the router, I understand that the Youfibre Eero Pro 6 has Pass through so I will need another device to put the VPN on.

Has anyone already done the above?

My Youfibre install is due in about 4 weeks time.

Have a look at pfSense or OPNsense. Usually for pfSense you can buy appliances from vendors including pfSense main backers Netgate. You can also build your own, assuming you doen your reserch and found compatible hardware. Otherwise go for OPNsense.
It's an Router, Firewall, Internet Security Gateway, VPN server and much more. If your ISP allows third party routers you can replace your ISP router with it and just leave the ONT.

Hi, I have a similar setup - i.e. I use the Eero Pro 6's only for WiFi and then use my own router, works without any issue.

Had YF since basically day 1 and they are amazing, cannot fault them at all.

I have decided to use the Eero Pro 6 in passthrough mode and have a gl.inet gl-ax1800(flint) router with a VPN (Nord) on it. I understand I can use both routers WIfI which is good because I can retain one for my sole use when the grandchildren\ great grandchildren come to stay;). All the PC traffic, ethernet and WiFI, will be routed via the ax1800(flint) router. I am sure there will be some issues to iron out, there always is.

I am going to try the ax1800(flint) router on my Virgin 3 Hub first as I have another 3 weeks to wait before YF is installed.

Is your Eero pro 6 plugged into the ONT and your own router is plugged into the Eero 6 ?????

Yeah I was going to say the same. I thought the Eero wants to take over your network as a router/DHCP server/etc and won’t work as a standalone WiFi access point but I might be wrong. Also I thought Amazon charged a subscription for the Eero’s.
