YouFibre Customers

and that was that:

Thanks for your reply.

We do want to cause any anomosity between yourself and your neighbours.

As you were actively seeking the service, we thought you might be able to help by trying to win them around to the works needed.

Of course, if they are not looking to sign agreements, we will be unable to complete the connections at this time. If they do change their mind we can always look to revisit this in the future with the aim of getting you connected.

Again, thank you for your support in our services and we hope to find a solution in the future.

Kind Regards, Taya Norton-Clare
Customer Operations Manager
what would happen if someone cut and pulled all the telephone wires out of the piping? would they fix it/replace/bury a new one?

update on my netomnia/yf. Still nothing from them. 5th estimate on completion missed. today I got an email from openreach saying they're looking to wire up our street for fibre which is extremely interesting given what they'd told me before (long story short, even spoke to Clive Selley, told in no uncertain terms no FTTP because we have GFast and that wasn't going to change).

now im going to get to see who wins the race. Netomnia who put fibre cables in the ground 16 months ago, or openreach who have just started planning my street.

OR are fast, once your area is done by OpenReach, you are live.

Thats what happen to me.

Interesting. G.fast availability doesn't seem to influence FTTP build. My old address for instance received FTTP within a year of G.fast being enabled and countless others have seen the same thing. Openreach seem to regard their deployment of G.fast, how they did it and when, as the error it is and don't seem to have any qualms about remediating that.

When Openreach wired up my town 2 years ago, I was excited, then dismayed to learn I wasn't going to be included. So I actually emailed Clive and he put me in touch with a guy who said he was head of their fibre rollout. He told me very clearly that there were no plans "because there's G.Fast available on your street, and 300mbit is OK for most people". (ignoring the fact I get 90mbit on G.Fast ...). But yes, I've read news here on places that have both FTTP and GFast available so it didn't make a lot of sense but I don't think it's their policy as such, but if there is GFast available and they're looking for areas to not do, they seem to go for that approach (several others in the same boat posting similar experiences on ISPr)

Either way, the idea of Openreach fibre is a welcome one. I would much rather have symmetric with Youfibre though as I do some video work and i'm recording in 5.7k blackmagic RAW or apple prores 444 and those files are Huuuuuuge (1 hour = 1TB) and thus more upload would be better. But even openreach FTTP at 200mbit up would be welcome compared to my current 14mbit.

I just wish netomnia would get on with it. Nice to have choices though. I was even considering giving OR money for FoD (my quote was just north of £10k) and i'm glad I didn't.

Drop me your post code and house number in a DM if you like and I'll ask. @Mark.J please vouch for both that I'm safe to give this to and have the connections to help if you would? 👌

He is / does :) .

I think when it comes to G.fast, Openreach's overbuild policy in specific locations can be a bit opaque and that may have to do with a wider balance of issues that also factor aspects like take-up, as well as the level of local fibre competition, and ofc the more predictable stuff (build costs etc.). I know they do sometimes consider those elements when timing their plans (balance of prioritisation and timing).

A family member went from not even having FTTC available until mid-2019, then a G.fast build in 2020 where they were estimated to get pretty much the full 330Mbps sync, and Openreach FTTP in early 2022. I can't imagine there's anybody served from the G.fast pod now as any contract terms would have expired and let people move to FTTP.

It felt like something must have delayed the FTTC build and then nobody noticed that FTTP was planned early enough to abandon the G.fast pod installation.

super surprised that openreach did a G.Fast build recently. I thought they'd given up on new installs.

@XGS_Is_On thanks for the offer, i appreciate it.

2020 wasn't all that recent, my point was that it doesn't seem to stop FTTP being deployed.

Update on mine, see if this makes any difference:

Good morning,

Sir Lindsay has raised this issue directly with BT OpenReach to look into the matter. When he receives a response, I will be sure to be back in touch.

Kind regards,

Imogen
Office of Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP

Not sure if anyone has run into something similar. I'm on the 2000 package and daily speed tests on my UDM have consistently been around or over 2000Mbps since install back in October.

Today I notice these have dropped down to just bellow 1000Mbps, at first I thought YF had incorrectly assigned my profile to the 1000 package, but on further inspection the connection between my UDM and the Adtran 622v ONT is no longer negotiating at 2.5GbE but 1GbE.

I've tried restarting both devices, tested different network cables, tested connecting the ONT directly to a 2.5Gb laptop LAN and in all cases the connection is stuck at 1GbE.

For now I've sent an email to YF, their online support tried to do a system reset (think this is just remotely rebooting the ONT) which has changed nothing.

I've seen in the specs for the Adtran 622v, the Ethernet ports can be set to Manual Configuration. I'm hoping this is the issue and YF can set this back to Auto Negotiation, otherwise the only thing I can think is the 10GbE port is faulty.

Latest update on mine, after intervention from my MP, BT sent out MJ Quin this month to repair the ducts. They dug up one of the neighbours garden and rebuilt the chamber. Today I have had the email saying youfibre is ready to install. All looking good. Had to add the phone back on to the order as it had disappeared from previous. So it’s due on Wednesday pm. Fingers crossed. I had to do another 12 month contract with plusnet, and I am 3 months into this, but youfibre are offering £300 towards the contract buyout.
Was also tempted to go to the 2000, as the prices had dropped from last time, but I will see how it goes first. Just nervous about the phone side and switching over my landline number.

Hi Folks.

Anyone else on YouFibre here or indeed hoping to join imminently?

Have to say I'm loving it. Uptime is good, get notified of maintenance via email and text, speeds are stable and very high. It's a high bar for me to be loving a service but this is pretty good.

Be good to see if any other ISPR folks are using it and how their experience is.
Sounds like how an ISP should be, I do giggle when people claim if you want notifications for maintenance get a leased line.

Well done! Just caught up with this, and hopefully that's the end of the pain.

Just nervous about the phone side and switching over my landline number.
I think this is fair and reasonable, fingers crossed for you. A friend of mine is a bit behind a similar issue (access issues to a neighbours garden) but was informed the contract buyout is pretty painless - from someone in his street that jumped as soon as possible.

So, had the install done today, 99% there, but not quite….

The install was finished but there is an issue with provisioning (not just mine) so just waiting for this to happen.

They put in the 2000 service which is costing £34pm. The supplied an Arris router. Seems a bit of confusion with this and speeds. See what happens when it comes on.
I haven’t decided if I will continue to use this with my deco mesh, or just use deco directly into ont?

24 hrs on, and still not working due to a known issue with provisioning. It’s not great so far….

So get this, it’s all on and live but turned they they gave a 1gb router on a 2gb service. So now they are going to change the router to an Asus one.
I was puzzled why they had given you a Arris router I was sure that it was only good for 1gb 🤷‍♂️
