So get this, it’s all on and live but turned they they gave a 1gb router on a 2gb service. So now they are going to change the router to an Asus one.
At least this should be a nice quick swap out. Understandably annoying though.

congrats on being live :)

Got the asus et12pro installed. It’s very nice, but cannot log into the settings. It’s wanting a user name, which I don’t know, and goggle is saying to do a factory reset 😬

Hey the username should be admin and the password should be your wifi SSID password.

Apologies about the Arris router, it has a 2.5Gbps WAN port but all the LAN ports are 1Gbps... We shouldn't be installing them for any package higher than a gig. :D

All sorted now and changed my deco mesh over. Really happy. Just need to ditch plusnet and decide if to keep the landline phone or not.

So, just added phone line on to transfer from plusnet. Youfibre have said they need to send someone round to change the equipment to allow the phone? What is this?
Note the ont has 2 phone sockets on it.

Has anyone had any luck getting their coverage area extended ever so slightly? Looking at a house and numbers 53 and up can get Youfibre, the house I'm looking to purchase is 49 😔

Yes, YouFibre agreed to extend their coverage from the next street over to my street last year after I reached out to their executive team. Your mileage may vary of course — in my case the streets were already fully ducted and with no blockages so it was a cheap and easy install for them, but it did take several months from them agreeing to the actual go-live date.

Do you have a contact name and/or email for that department?

Hi there folks,

I had a knock at the door from Youfibre rep, seems the area will be cabled soon so very interested, currently with EE 500 down £38.25 a month, using a BT hub.

If i was to go with Youfibre how easy is it to set up my own router, I don't like the EEro as I tested it when I was with Talktlak and the wireless signal is not great, the BT router is good in that respect.

So running it past you guys as regards using either the BT hub or an old Talktalk router which wasn't bad with wireless either, I do prefer the BT one though.

I would probably sign up with Youfibre to the 900 down service., and if EE definitely want the BT router back, I would probably buy a similar off Ebay.

So advice gratefully appreciated as regards using a BT router with Youfibre, I understand that Youfibre also do an Arris router, is its signal any good.

Many thanks.
Joe

I use a

GL.iNet GL-AX1800(Flint) WiFi 6 Router

I do have the Arris router provided by Youfibre but I don’t use it. I had never set up a router before and I am in my 70s, I was surprised how simple it was.

If you get stuck a question posted on the forum will quickly resolve the issue.

I have looked at the Arris router and it appears fine, if a little basic.

Thanks for all replies,

A basic router is fine for me, as long as it has good wireless coverage, similar to my BT router Hub which seems to reach all parts of house.

So anyone know if I can set up a BT router with Youfibre and if so, how easy or complicated is it to do.?

Many thanks,
Joe

I don't think using the BT router is possible. Youfibre connects via DHCP to their network (unless you pay extra for a fixed IP public address) and the BT router looks for a PPPoE connection. Their routers also appear to be pre-set just to connect to the BT network. e.g. if you use a non BT router with BT you need to enter the standard BT username in the connection fields, but the BT routers do not have those and connect automatically.
There are plenty of good quality routers available which perform as well if not better than the BT unit.

Regards

Bob

The Arris router that Youfibre provide should work just fine, although I use my own router my neighbour uses the Arris router and he has no problems.

Super disappointed with Youfibre, the latency is quite a bit worse than on my previous 36mb TalkTalk package. Support said they don't have latency guarantees, really regretting going with them.

How bad? Whats the comparison?

TalkTalk 36mbit being a VDSL package? as they should be knocking spots off of that latency pretty easily.

Surprised by this, how are you testing?

YouFibre is about 10-12ms worse than my old TalkTalk FTTC broadband. Not huge but I definitely didn't expect it.

Ethernet, I emailed the support and they told me my route changed, they didn't give a reason why.

Where abouts are you located? North England? Wondering if TT had an exit point in Manchester or somewhere similar, and YF is routing you via London?

I guess it could depend on the peering youfibre have. I'd guess as a smaller ISP they may not peer directly with as many others as say TalkTalk
