Well my install date was 28/08 however I managed to get the install done… today! Woohoo!

Guys did a tidy job of the wiring and after waiting for the DHCP lease to expire, I’m now up and running using my UCG!

I’m getting close to 900 down and a tad over 900 upload. I also ordered a static IP and didn’t need to mess with any settings to get this working (I read some stuff saying I would need to clone the MAC of the Arris router).

Actually, close to 1000 on the wire!

So yeah, all done and dusted! Just need to cancel my IDnet connection and get a refund on remaining payments!
You mean pay your early termination fees...?

No, I paid for 1 year upfront;- I'm out of contract on the 18th this month and I've paid up to 18/02/2025 so I'm due a refund on the remaining.

30 days notice so I'll do that in the morning.

Hi. I have the 1gbps package and the Arris NVG578LX gateway. Not been overly blown away with the speed or the range of the wifi. The range is the biggest issue tbh. Could someone recommend either a replacement router or mesh setup for <£100?
Just a bump in case anyone has any thoughts?

You may get better traction in a new thread.

However, my thoughts would be don't replace the router and buy yourself an access point(s) you can place somewhere useful. I have a Ubiquiti U6-Pro on the landing which covers my house entirely. This easily does 700mbit+

I put in 2x Aruba Instant AP-305's in at my mums, they were £35/ea on eBay (they look to still be available, also) - in that config 1 acts as the controller and the 2nd picks its config up from the first. The internet connection here is absolutely pants and the building is old and well built, 2x APs because it also covers an annex/shed/long garden etc.

Depends on what features you want vs price vs technical ability etc. I'm not looking for maximum throughput on wifi, as anything that needs to download a lot of data is hard wired.

Pretty much as above. As much as any ISP claims "whole home Wi-Fi," it's pretty much BS. While a device may see the router/AP, that doesn't mean the router/AP sees the device given the radio/antenna on said device is significantly smaller/less powerful than the AP.

Also as above, a new thread will keep this one clean and relevant.

Can attest, I have Ubiquiti 6 Pro, AC, Enterprise AP's covering the house. The 6E delivers above 1Gbps over wireless which is quite something.
