YouTube TV playing up

This is probably just happening here:

Is anyone else's YouTube TV playing up?

When playing playlists - moves from one track to the next - always starts in "Pause" mode, so you have to click Play to play each video.

When playing something you choose on your phone to the TV - sometimes crashes altogether - slow to buffer - sometimes doesn't play at all and just sticks there, the TV ends the app and takes you back to the menu.

We have a new router. Internet speeds are fine at around 23 down 20 up.

It *may* be CGNAT in effect - that's what has changed. Used to share the connection via a VPN and then ICS so the TV went through the VPN, now, it doesn't. Will be buying a VPN router anyway to plug in, so that will get sorted.

But just thought I'd check.. anyone else or just us?

I tend not to use YouTube on my TV or its playlist feature, so not sure, although you can try using this tool to see if you're being a CGNAT setup. Look for yellow/red lines.

It will definitely be CGNAT as the set up is now:

Internet (EE4G)
|
Huawei B593 router
|
Ethernet: Powerplug > Powerplug > TV
and
Ethernet: PC
and
Wi-Fi: Phones, tablet

The PC has the Astrill VPN software on it, so now, only the PC routes via the VPN and everything else uses CGNAT - which breaks so many things, e.g. some sites will load fine on the PC but not on my mobile.

I'll try out the Three SIM in the router later on and see if that solved it. If it does then it would seem to be CGNAT that's causing the problem.

The problem is CGNAT. Breaks everything.

In this case, I'm just guessing that a server at YouTube keeps a record of the paired devices, and a request from one of those results in a push notification to the device it's paired with e.g. the TV.

And that mechanism is broken by CGNAT in some way.

Workaround is to have the internal network routed via my PC through the software based VPN and then out to EE 4G, so that all the devices sit "behind" the VPN. Works perfectly. Now to buy that VPN router box..
