Zen Slow Speeds 8000

How long does it take for the line to level out? Its so unstable atm :crap:, I got the top package 8mbit... In the morning I can get 272kb on a speedtest, then I try again and it goes down and down and gets down to around 60kb. How long does it take to get my promised 6mbit?

welcome to MaxDSL BluThunda. I've been with Eclipse on my max product since the 2nd week that it started (early April) and its still up and down, down and up. I think however mine might be a line issue and BT are due to be coming out sometime today to try and sort it. If you ring Zen they should be able to tell you what your MSR has been set at and what the profile speed is. Are you out of the 10 day training period? if so give Zen a call. As for the 6mb you might never get it, the BT and various other checkers say my line can support upto 4mb on Max, however after weeks of use my router still hasn't synced any faster than 3.4mb, so basicaly good luck :)

Yep, as above, MAX still has problems and your line may not achieve what it is predicted to. Sometimes the reality can be someway off expectation. Expect unstable speeds during the 10 day period and the odd disconnection (some suffer more than others).

Once 10 days has passed your line will settle down, but speeds will still fluctuate, just not quite so much. Sadly there's not a lot Zen can do about it, although I do wish ISP's would be honest and openly warn consumers about what to expect from MAX.

I don't think it nothing to do with BT 10 days training.

It more likely to do with the BBC streaming of World Cup football that does affect Ace Internet speed down from 6.6Mbps to 0.3Mbps all morning yesterday until Steve from Ace had found out that too many peoples using p2p and BBC world cup streaming and now put temporary situation traffic shaping and p2p throttling during office hours.

It just because of World Cup and I fear next one is Wimbledon Tennis next after this.

I am now with Ace Internet since June 9th but I ain't moaned as I know that it only temporary and then it will be back to normal as soon the world cup is over in July 9th.

touch wood BT will be here within the next 1 hour and 8 mins and i'll actualy have a more stable connection, at the moment it ranges from 3mb down to 256k but rests around 1.3mb.

If it is the World Cup causing a general "slow-down" then that doesn't bode very well for the golden future of internet TV we always keep hearing about.

Seriously though, if the infrastructure is that close to capacity that people watching footie via BB can slow everything down, I wonder what it'll be like when everyone's watching TV proggy's?

TV Boardcast over Internet is a well bad move because world cup football live via internet does affect ADSLMAX speed dropped from 6.6Mbps to 0.3Mbps and I cannot understand why is BT, SKY, ITV and BBC are looking ahead in the future by launch television live via internet as it can easy eat up your bandwidth usages and will slow down your speed and everyone elses too.

BT should upgrade a biggest and better technology on central pipes to cope with it in the future but we all know what BT is like.....they don't care about adsl problem these days now.

Well say Mr_Hat - I do agree with your thought of it. It a worrying time but I think BT will change it to ADSL2 to cope with all internet live tv but why and what the point over internet, some video streaming can be broken time to time. I rather watch my own TV widescreen with HD to be honest !

i doubt the world cup is responsible at all, i dont know anyone who has even started to watch a match on the net, thats what we have a tv for.

i'd guess thats your ISP not the bbc's fault

I agree with onephat, I do not think that the bcc broadcasting football online will affect things like that.

It's basically down to BT MAX and the fact it's just not stable.....my max is just not making sense.

ive noticed no difference in speed since the start of the world cup, it was crap before its crap now. Oh yeh BT your 14 mins late grrrrrr

ok fair point taken, then why is Steve from Ace Internet told us that it had to placed a traffic shaping and p2p throttling because of BBC world cup affect their speed ??

maybe an ISP would do this if they didnt have enough spare capicity or maybe use the world cup and the possibility of a few extra people watching tv online to sneak in a FUP ?? i don't know as i'm not an ISP, maybe ask him ?

hahahah why would the world cup be responsible LOL! Its leveled out now, didnt read you had to wait 10 days! Takes time though ill admit but I am getting a 60kbup and a 620kb down, very impressed with zen. Although ive managed to go over the 50gb limit already lol.

Slow Speed

Although a lot of posts say it takes three days, I do not think that is correct. I have a synch speed of 1760, which should give me 1.5Mb. (I live 5.7KM from exchange). However I have been on constant 1 meg however many times I retrain, which is what my ISP told me

I left my router on continously, and lo and behold, as soon as it clock over 240 hours (10 days) at the same stable speed of 1760, my download speed has immediately increased to 1.5Mb, which is the best I can get.

So I think 240 hours without retraining should do it.
