Zetnet unable to order new or modified circuits from supplier

Last November, I asked my ISP, Zetnet, to migrate our ADSL connection to a different number (on the same exchange). This has still not been implemented and today I received some more information. I seems that their wholesale supplier is/was Legend, who were taken over by Thus plc (formerly part of Scottish Power, but has been a separate company for some time) back in 2006.

Last October, apparently Thus told Zetnet tht they wouldn't honour any orders for new or modified circuits until a new contract was signed and effective. Zetnet say that Thus then took eight weeks to provide a copy of the new contract, which was substantially and materially different to the one they had with Legend. They responded with their own comments and are still awaiting a response from the legals at Thus. ITMT, it's now been ten weeks since we moved and we still don't have our ADSL connection at the new location! To be fair to Zetnet, they have provided a freephone dial-up number that we're using in the meantime, but you all know how painful THAT can be!

Personally, I don't see how Thus can legally do what they're doing. If you take over a company, then you inherit all of its contractual liabilities (amongst other things). Fine if you want to negotiate a new contract, do that and (try to) reach a mutually acceptable new agreement, but to cut off services in a way that so badly affects end-users seems a ridiculously unfair and immoral thing to do!

Is this a case of Samson walking all over David, just because they can? Is anyone else here affected by this issue? I'm sure Zetnet isn't their only service provider client, so are any others affected by this? And are there any other Zetnet end-users here that are affected by this situation?

Regards
Nigel

Since yours is a new number you are not ADSL activated so can sign upto with any ISP you like aslong as you pay activation fee.

Even if they have the marker on your line you can call the tags on the line team who will remove it if you explain the situation but I doubt this will be the case.

No, this has to be a migration as Zetnet host our domain name.

Also, it's not a new number we need the connection moved to, it's an existing line, but I concede that doesn't change the point you were making, as there still isn't any existing ADSL service on it.
