Hello everyone.
Last thread I found about adding external antenna(s) to ZTE MC801A was from about 1.5 years ago, and my case is a bit different.
I have ZTE MC801A from Three and I use it in my van I live in. I travel a lot around South West- Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and quite often I either get no signal or signal is so poor I can't watch YouTube or Netflix. Sometimes I get better signal on EE in my phone, so I just tether.
Usually if I put the router on top of the van roof it gets better, but that's not a good solution.
So I'm not looking for hyper speeds, I'm looking for a reasonable speeds of mere 10-20 Mbps and rather for being able to connect at all in places where I can't from inside of the van. As someone suggested I'll buy something from Amazon so I can return it if it doesn't work but please help me where to start.
I believe I need a 4g antenna as in those remote places there's no 5g anyway. Do I need 2x2 MIMO or 4x4 with some Y splitters I read about on this forum?
I see that people do mods and have 8 external connectors, 4 for 4g and 4 for 5g. If it's worth it I can do such mod too, no problem with that.
Thanks in advance for shedding some light on this.
