ZTE MF286D - Firmware Request

Hello guys, so now I'm also shopping for one of these. It would be easy for me to buy a Three branded item, but in which case I would like to try the Italian Non-branded firmware or the Nordic Non-branded.

I personally think the Italian Non-branded is what I would prefer to try, if I can't then if you help me to source it I can import one and take out a firmware read for you guys. The reason I'm interested in this is because I notice on the specification for this region that ALL bands are present as shown.

Another question, even if the Nordic doesn't show all brands in specification, does that mean they're disabled? Or can bands which aernt presented in the UI still be activated?

Here's the spec for Italia but unfortunately when I view stock in Italy I think most sell Nordic loaded. Hence why I asked the question of non-present bands being activated.

Best wishes gang!

The Web UI should not restrict the bands, also, you can always change the band locking through AT Command in case making a change in the web ui turns off a band that is not listed. As long as the radio module supports the bands, it should be OK.

There are several MF286D from Italy for sale on ebay. You may want to ask the seller which firmware is loaded. They seem a but pricey though.

What I'm finding is that Nordic is loaded on what the main Italian seller is listing and because I can't find the Nordic product on ZTE site I can't confirm. I understand your idea about swerving the WEBUI and sending commands manually but if the driver instructions for the radio module are not built into the firmware it may not work. About £118 but I need to checkout the current import situation as if there's VAT or duty to pay on top then yeah sounds a bit pricey, £118 is already borderlining on cost for me but if I take a gamble I'll update and let you know + upload firmware for everyone. My idea being to find the best debranded/untouched factory version I can 🤞🏼

MF286D is being discussed in Finland quite a bit https://bbs.io-tech.fi/threads/zte-mf286-kokemuksia.609/page-31 (Google translate will help). Might be worth asking the question about band 32.

there is a table about which band is used in which country here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks_in_Europe
Finland does not use Band 32 but apparently Italy does, so maybe the Italian version is a better option.
On the ZTE site the D version didn't show up under Finland but I'll check again on desktop view incase my mobile was cutting out some of the information

Italian version does look ideal it's just I can't actually find it, two sellers in Italy confirmed their stock is Nordic 🤔

Just missed out on a Three branded one on ebay sub £60 it ended for which sounds more reasonable but meh I like to do things the hard way. Would be nice to get an ideal factory/unbranded firmware to share with you guys

Ok I could be wrong here but it's possible that NORDIC firmware was supplied to Unbranded market in Italia and maybee some other countries. This carries the "Nordic_B02" tag? ELISA which is built on top of this firmware carries originally "Elisa1_B06" tag, who's update is tagged "Elisa1_B 11".

I've found three zte update frameworks that allow you to debrand from TIM, ELISA and MAXIS respectively:

Sadly my Italian is not brilliant, so I'm having to work backwards to understand what was done to allow the update tool to debrand to Nordic Generic firmware.

I have one I don't need anymore, I flashed it with the MF286D_Elisa1_B06 firmware, it was originally three branded.
Hi twocats

did you use one of the firmware's in the mega download? if so which one, else do you have a link?

Many Thanks
