UK ISP Pine Media, which recently revealed that the roll-out of their 1Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network will be extended to cover 50,000 premises in the city of Sheffield (here), has revealed that they’re now going to extend this into rural parts of South Yorkshire and neighbouring Derbyshire.

UK ISP Pine Media have announced that they plan to include an additional 20,000 premises into their roll-out of gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband technology in the South Yorkshire city of Sheffield, which will see their total coverage reach 50,000.

Some 4,500 homes in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire, have now gained access to Virgin Media UK’s new “gigabit-capable” Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband and TV network. The work forms part of their on-going Project Lightning network expansion.

UK ISP B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North), which is deploying a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network to rural premises in several counties across England, has furnished us with a progress update and revealed that they aim to reach 40,000 properties passed by 31st March 2022 and possibly c.70,000 by 2025/26.

UK ISP Hyperoptic, which specialises in building 1Gbps capable “full fibre” (FTTP/B) broadband networks to large urban apartment buildings, has reached a new agreement in Sheffield that will see their service being expanded to cover 5,400 homes in the city council’s housing portfolio.

Customers of UK ISP Origin Broadband are to be offered a new Pay TV service after IPTV supplier Netgem TV announced that it had just launched their “largest deployment deal to date” with the internet provider, which is being bundled alongside their broadband and phone packages with prices from £12.99 per month.

Earlier this week Hull-based ISP KCOM launched a cheap £25 for 30Mbps offer (here) to help entice new customers on to their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. Now Pure Broadband, which uses the same network, is giving existing users a way to get the same deal.

Hull-based UK ISP KCOM has launched a cheaper Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband package (it’s actually more of a special offer on an existing plan) to help broaden their appeal, which will give new customers an unlimited 30Mbps (15Mbps upload) service from just £25 per month (normally £40).

Hull-based UK ISP KCOM, which covers a big chunk of East Yorkshire with their gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network, has secured an additional 2 year funding facility from Lloyds Bank worth £30m. The extra investment will help expand their network into more of East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

Some 4,000 additional homes in the large West Yorkshire village of Stanley (Metropolitan Borough of Wakefield), which is home to a population of 15,000, have now been covered by UK ISP Virgin Media’s new “gigabit-capable” Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband and TV network.

Broadband ISP TalkTalk has confirmed that a small number of jobs will be cut in the city of York, which is where they had been building a new Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network via the FibreNation brand until its recent sale (here) to the Goldman Sachs backed Cityfibre for around £200m cash.

The Superfast Broadband North Yorkshire (SFNY) project, which has been working with Openreach (BT) to extend “superfast broadband” (24Mbps+) via FTTC and FTTP to reach 94% of premises in the county by June 2021 (currently 91%), has begun the process to find a supplier for their £12.5m Phase 4 roll-out contract.

The North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) and Nynet have confirmed that their on-going £15.1m project to roll-out a new “gigabit-capable” fibre broadband network (here), which aims to connect 370 public sector sites, has been extended to include the small town of Filey.

Telecoms provider KCOM has announced that they’ve signed a new £3m “strategic supply agreement” with Hexatronic to help provide the necessary passive fibre optic solutions for the on-going expansion of their Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based broadband ISP network, which is focused on East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

Last year’s £627m takeover of Hull’s incumbent telecoms and broadband ISP, KCOM, by Macquarie Infrastructure (here) has taken another twist. Reports claim that the new owners may now look to carve up the business in order to focus on its core network and expansion across East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.
