Broadband ISP Connexin has said they’re investigating after their UK engineers, who were deploying poles to carry a new 10Gbps capable full fibre (FTTP) network in the East Yorkshire (England) town of Beverley, accidentally damaged a gas pipe in the Beverley Parklands area on 11th March.

UK ISP Quickline, which is rolling out a gigabit-capable full fibre (FTTP) broadband network across parts of England, has today announced that they’ve just gone live across three more villages in Rural Lincolnshire – North Somercotes near Louth, Donnington near Spalding and Alford (total of almost 4,000 premises).

The Conservative MP for Beverley and Holderness, Graham Stuart, has followed up his previous calls for the UK government to clampdown on the use of “ugly and unnecessary” poles – used to deploy some gigabit broadband networks – by sending a letter to the Digital Infrastructure Minister, Julia Lopez, which makes five key “demands“.

The Government’s £5bn Project Gigabit broadband rollout scheme has today awarded the £60m (state aid) regional contract for West Yorkshire, parts of North Yorkshire and East Riding in England to UK ISP Quickline, which will aim to extend their full fibre network to “around” 28,000 additional premises in hard to reach rural areas.

Fibre optic network builder MS3 has apologised after a mistake resulted in several of its new telecoms poles being erected within an area of Hedon (East Yorkshire) that has Scheduled Monument status. The government-linked Historic England agency said consent had not been granted ahead of the work.

Business ISP and managed service provider Evolve has today become the latest provider to hop onto MS3‘s new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the North of England (mostly the East Riding of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire regions), which ultimately aims to reach 535,000 UK premises by the end of 2025.
